well hes only played like 2 years and jeter wasnt that good last year and has been injuryed more this year, plus tejada puts up better power numbers and is more valuable to his team.

here are the 3 year averages for both.....
Tejada
.284 32HR 120RBI 179hits 49walks 8stolenbases 107 runs
Jeter
.315 17HR 74RBI 194 hits 68walks 27 SB 119 runs
two very different players. I actually think that jeter is more valuable to the yanks than tejada is to the A's. For one, tejada is having a shitty year and the A's are still great. Jeter does all the little things, for example the play against Oakland in the 2001 playoffs, which not only saved the game, it save the series and the yanks season. Tejada had a great year last year, no doubt but the A's will be fine without him next year, just like they were fine with out Giambi.

Do you think Miguel Tejada's early-season swoon didn't have anything to do with his pending free agency, as well as A's management's comments that they wouldn't re-sign him after the season? He's a lifetime .258-1-6 hitter in 15 career postseason games, suggesting perhaps he's one of the select few who performs better outside the spotlight. If trade rumors heat up around the July 31 deadline, it wouldn't be shocking to see Tejada slump again after the All-Star break.

Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter have played huge parts in the Yankees' championship runs. Rivera, despite playing a big part in losing Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, is still the greatest postseason closer of all-time, with 25 saves and a 0.90 ERA in 53 postseason appearances. He also has five wins (a personal best), 20 saves and a 2.60 ERA in the regular season against heated rival Boston. Jeter is a lifetime .314-11-28 hitter in 82 postseason games, and he also turns it up when he faces the Red Sox. His 30 career stolen bases against Boston are his most against any team, and his 49 RBI are tied for a personal best. Facing the Red Sox might not appear the most favorable matchup, but Rivera and Jeter have what it takes to be must-starts.

I agree with the spotlight thing, but as far as the more valuable, the yankees started 20-4 without jeter. On that note did anyone see todays star ledger called richard jefferson basketballs derek jeter, gets to the finals every year.
Being Im not a Baseball fan and my opinion probably means shit, Id take Jeters defensive skills with Arods hitting skills.
