I'm used to hearing him in smaller spaces and havin him get into his groove w/ the crowd.....esp when he's shufflin back/forth while he's spinnin. very true....i feel the same goes for international dj's...it seeems they play much more better at home than they do in the states..and in the states its all for the money..they dont need exposure over here when they can play in stadiums for 20 30thousand people at home...they get on a plane with there cd book play a main slot 4 4 hrs and go home ....how ever when they play home its a totally diff game..so in sayig all that i def agree with ur quote

dt does not just play anywhere, he is very particular about his gigs,

he will not play a club to "make the night" esp if it just opened, and he likes to see a club and check it out before he agrees to spin.

it took forever to get him to agree to spin for our friend in rhode island @ therapy, cause he was being a queen about it ,

and crobar he plays cause he had some great parties there, I forget when, but prob a year or 2 aog, he had one of the most packed nights crobar ever had, something like 4500 people, and prob would have kept going but there was huge fight or some shit and cops shut down the line

and how can you ever say that a dj just plays the room for money ,, withouth knowing him personally where would you ever come up with something liek that

I have head some amazing sets out of Danny in Crobar... A friend of mine owns a club in Russia and wanted to book Danny. He offered him $50,000 to play and no one even responded to the email.. If it was all about $ for Danny he wouln't be so exclusive as he is. Just recently Danny has been playing more gigs outside NYC.

I honestly do not think that he dislikes the space(Crobar).

lol agreed! i dont play for money as a matter of fact i spent about $1200 just to open for dt this sunday lol dont ask me to go into details please but its true and i would have paid more if i had to also cause it was worth every penny, so in conclusion i play for love of playin but then again im not in such demand as dt to pic and chose money over love lol i take em as they come but after this gig hehe they commin fast booked thru end of jan :yipee info commin soon but just a reminder im at stereo this friday dec 29th :lostit

i'm commenting bases on what friends of mine who are close to danny have told me and from my experience of going to see him for many years. perfect example would be when he played CPI a few years ago and was terrible and was openly blasting CPI before the gig on his own site and making comments like oh i dont knwo if long island is ready for me. then his set completely sucked.

he does play for his fans but to him his fans are the ppl who will grind it out in some dark grimey club, not the generic glittery crowd that fills crobar. and he will save his best performances fo his real crowd. the danny people.

once you are getting offered $30K+ for a nights work the pride you have about being picky and choosey go out the window. all i'm saying is form all my experiences with DT sometimes he gives his all and sometimes he holds back. i'm entitled to my opinion and how can you tell me i am wrong unless you are inside DT's brain. i'm just going off what i have seen and what i have heard form people within his circle.

The positive is the sound in crobar has improved massively ..Also when he played pacha with Danny krivet for the 718 sessions he had to resort to cd's (they both did) Acoording to DT is pacha turntables were producing feedback so this was the second gig he had to go through this..Also like Fast said DT totally gives it his best and does work very hard why the hell would a dj wanna play a crappy set especially in his hometown?..he was disappointed bescause his set was ruined by a problem that could have been avoided through preperation and add to the fact he only spins vinyl in nyc since he refuses to travel with his collection ..he does have class and business savy because he still praised crobar and pacha on his board..And i will say his ultra fest after party last year at crobar was fuckin incredible (that was the night he did 4500 fast mentioned) My question for DJ alex Hoffman is did danny play all cds on sun ?? or did they correct the bass ??

That was what i was thinking, that it had to be the bass from those stacks(moniters). To be honest with you, i think it it was Steve Dash tweaking the sound for Crobar this wouldn't of happened

Actually i think teh night fast is talking about DT huge record setting numbers was for his bday party last yr. It was a madhouse and beyond pack uop u til there wasa huge line outside and noone was allowed inside.

And i talk to dt on a regular basis and he is VERY picky and chooses his gigs carefully and turns down alot of gig for many reasons. Believe me he is not money hungry at all. That russian gig is nothing compared to what he turn down recently and his reason was because he wanted to stay at home closed to his family at this time of yr rather than play 2 nights someplace hes never been before.

And for those who think danny is about money only you are so wrong, there been many improptu parties that he has played for way less money or no money at all at parties/clubs recently.

no i am not sure..but it def wasnt this year...so maybe a year and a half? i have no fuckin clue all i kno is it was my ex bf's 21st bday on that very day and he is now 22...so yea a year lol feels like longer since he is like 3 boyfriends ago :shuffle

it is more than that. you have to understand that this is danny's passion. music is his life. not because it's all about being a "drama queen". he took alot of time to prepare for this event. you have to understand this. taking time to dig into his vinyl collections. the turntables was having feedbacks. therefore, he could not play any of the crates of vinyl goodies that he brought along with him for the night. if you want to read what danny had to say , he posted something on dtourism about the night :)

also danny did not throw a water bottle at the sound guy. :disappoin

and how can you ever say that a dj just plays the room for money ,, withouth knowing him personally where would you ever come up with something liek that

dj's (contrary to what some people believe) do nto just go at these things half asses, why would they , its their fans they are cheating, and DT is one of those who is all about his fans (so I hear),

heres the thing danny will play anywhere that is willing to pay him to put his name ona flyer but he will scale back his set accordingly. if he is just playing a room for the $$ its not going to be his best if he is playing the room cause he wants to it can be life changing. crobar is a place he places for the money and not the love.

He planned to play alot more vinyl than usual..lotta classics. the record that skipped was CJ Bolland - Sugar is sweeter - True
He doesn't like Crobar & does it for the bananas - False

He was so upset about what happened... tried to cheer him up but he wasn't having it. He prepares endlessly for gigs....especially one's like this.
Some might see it as overreacting but he is so passionate about this stuff.
It was like a kid getting coal in his stocking :(

On the music.. it was actually EXCELLENT but since the DT experience is NOT just the BOMBS but his interaction w/ us & the CARRY ON's ....we noticed.
Any other DJ we wouldn't have noticed the difference between a good mood or a bad mood.

On a side note I had the most fun EVER... He let me play till 4am again! & then I even closed out the last hour.
