Anyone go to any New or really Good Restaurants while they were at WMC? I know eating and restaurants isn't top on the list while down there but I know some people get out and about to experience the Cuisines down there.:agree

Well I did hit up my usual tapas restaurant on Espanola Way, despite the fact we had to wait a bit:
Tapa y Tintos
Here's a list of what we had
-Almejas del grau(Sauteed clams with tomato, garlic and parsely)
-Chorizos a la sidra(Baby chorizo cooked with spanish cider)
-broiled potatoes in a red spicy sauce
-mushroom broil w/ white goat cheese
-broiled mushroom stuffed w/ something I forgot
-platter of cured meats (proscuitto, etc etc)
-calamari stuffed w/ seafood salad
-chicken empanadas covered in a puffed pastry
I think I'm missing a couple others, but you get the idea
Also I know some of you think there isn't anything special about a Cuban sandwich, but I had one today @ this joint (corner of 9th & Collins):

Wow is all i gotta say about that. Aside from the pork & ham they usually put in the sandwich....they threw in some breaded pork (i believe it was pork). I also got a side of sweet plantains which I dipped in this light garlic sauce mix (my guess was a mix of garlic, a lil vinegar, lemon & maybe butter). Whatever it was, it was off the shizzzy. Thanks to my sister for showing me that spot. :applaud
Btw if you're ordering ANYTHING ANYWHERE in FL, please understand they're snails down there. Allow yourself some extra time for them to have you seated & fed.

This is the type of stuff that I would like to try and experience, but I missed out on it last year. Too much going on in the few days I was there with parties and shit to try and get out to check out local cuisines.:disappoin

went to Touch for the 2nd time on Sunday night. I love this place :heart
between 3 of us we had -
Starters:
Mango Induced Foie-Gras
seared canadian foie-gras a-top crispy coconut fried pineapple, sour mango sauce finished with dried mango
Lobster Blini
sautéed Maine lobster and a julienne of spring vegetables blended in a thin batter-chive pancake finished with a cognac lobster sauce
A ‘Steal & Eggs’ dish.. which was a beef carpaccio fused with quail egg.
Main Dishes:
Lobster Ravioli and Prime Beef
Slow Roasted Prime Deckle Steak sliced and served over Main Lobster and Ricotta Ravioli with creamed spinach and lobster syrup
Prime Black Angus Filet (got 2 of these lol)
Center Cut Angus Tenderloin char-grilled with smokey chocolate mole butter (Wow :spitfall) accompanied with a three cheese stuffed chili, cuitalocoche and red wine glace with braised spring vegetables
Had a few bellinis along with the meal, added a side of lobster mashed.. and a molten lava cake for dessert.
The place is heavenly… next time I’m down by the beach I’m trying Barton G & The Forge.

Wow, everything sounds good. The stupid Foie Gras ban in Chicago sucks.....:disgusted But you can still get it at a lot of restaurants because there is a loop hole. They can't "Sell" it, but they can give it away is what one place told me. :chuckle So it won't be advertised on the menu it will just be on your plate on one of the courses.:rubhands
That Prime Angus Filet sounds ridiculous.:lostit

I will def' keep intouch and when we're in NY we'll meet up. :)
Oh and Key Largo was a no go. We had a rough day/night on Saturday. Didn't get to sleep until 7-8am, so we could NOT drive out there. Sorry!

its alllll about the local spots :agree
if you venture out of south beach you even get some better food...
the BEST cuban sandwich is from Saruccis --way out in the cuban ghetto :keke i cant explain how good this is---they bake it in a big oven and use this special sauce in it...it is out of this world.
there was also this amazing Chino Latino restaurant we used to go to--you got this bangin chines-cuban style fried rice with a side of plantains mmmmm
