my last trip to the doc 2 weeks ago wasnt the best.. the blood disorder is slowly progressing (not in a good way) and my blood pressure was 145/105... my pressure has always been normal/high usually 130's over 85-90ish... doc said that some of it was nerves just being in the office, and knowing i was getting another bone marrow biopsy but techniqually i was at stage 2 hypertension... it runs on both sides of my family, basically all the males are on some sort of meds for it... doc told me to cut down on the sodium.. i didnt realize how much sodium is in EVERYTHING we fucking eat... for the past 2 weeks ive keep the intake around 1500mg a day (daily value is somewhere around 2250mg per day), bought a blood pressure machine (take BP 3 times a day) and it seems to be helping... im consistantly in the low 130's over the high 70's and low 80's...
threw away the Adobo, the Emeril's seasonings and bought some Ms Dash which sucks, but there is no sodium...
doc wanted to make sure i still was not taking any supplements since he cut me off last july.. so its kinda funny when co workers fuck around and accuse me of taking steroids... little do they know my fucking heart is about to explode..

increase your potassium also...that'll help with getting rid of more sodium...try one of these...uses potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride

i was looking at those in the grocery store.. ive always thought those salt substitutes were known to cause cancer in lab rats and shit? maybe that was sweet/low? ill give them a shot... i never realized what a BIG difference it makes cooking without salt..

1 slice of swiss cheese has 180mg... usually i get 8 egg whites, salt pepper ketchup, and extra swiss on my sandwich in the morning... they had of been putting 3 or 4 slices on that mofo.. plus the ketchup has around 200mg or so per serving AND the salt on top of that... thats like a daily serving of sodium just in Meal number 1... no wonder i was fucked up..
now ive been getting
8 egg whites, just pepper and a little bit of ketchup and 1 slice of cheese.. im very specific lol

substitute salt has potassium chloride and there's a radioactive isotope of potassium that occurs more in this fake salt...i wouldn't worry about it too much...
my diet is low sodium. when im really following the rules well... and i try tro eat a chip or something i pratically choke bc it feels like the salt shaker went to town
it's kinda cool :agree

The "No Salt" substitute definitely helps. Has a very different taste than regular salt but you get used to it. Use it on your food in moderation or it'll taste like shit.

i opt for that pretty often. but i always allow half a yolk at laest in the mix. read a few too many reports that the albumin doesn't mtebolize effeciently without some yolk element. of course i don't know if t hat is set in stone but i throw a little yolk in to puy my mind @ rest.

ya i can't eat egg whites, i would rather eat 3 whole eggs than 8 egg whites, more protein, yes more fat, but in my opinion egg whites aren't the most nutrisious part of the egg.
yolks contain almost half of the protein in the egg and ALL of its vitamins. on top of that egg protein is close to perfect, (most other proteins would be so luck to mimic its properties in nature or mad made)
egg whites contain 19 calories per white,
whole eggs contain 60 calories WITH all the vitamins and half of the protein.
why wouldn't anyone eat 3 whole eggs instead of 8 egg whites? bascially the same thing in calories, may have some more cholesterol for the yolks and some more fat, but its actually fat that helps the protein emulsify.
Me personally i hate a mound of egg whites they make me want to gag. ill cut out my fat in other areas of my diet, but nothing beats 2 eggs over easy with PAM, and a slice of sharp chedda fat free cheese on whole wheat bread in the am. i won't eat that big mound of white snot for breakfast i did it for a long time and found the only way it could go down was to mix in some turkey iwth it.

that whole "eating eggs gives you high cholesterol" is a fallacy. i ate 2-3 whole eggs a DAY along with another 3-4 eggwhites for months, when i got tested my cholesterol was 132.

Everything is an acquired taste. Stop using salt & spices in your cooking and eventually you will not desire it. Use fresh tomato slices instead of ketchup on your eggs.
