I got a sonic blue RIO a year ago for a birthday present.. Now the convenience is great but the damn thing kept locking up on me in the middle of the song so I don't recommend a RIO at all I heard the nomad were good check this site it's cool for reviews

i just got a sony Net md sport player (mini disk / mp3 recorder /player)

EASY software, durrable,small, easy to use, has a display, and u can change disks, re-record on disks, AND you dont have to use MP3'S ALL THE TIME... they give u software to re record cd's, tapes, wav files, the radio to mini-disk from ur computor, OR u can hook up to ANY electronic device to record through the output or headphone jack (with the approprite wires). u can record your records (if ur a dj) and re record without having wasted cd's.

im going to get wires, and hook this bad boy up to my car soon.

mini disks are cheap and durrable too... and if u get bored of one disk, u can record over it...over and over and over... great toy. im real happy with it.

ogh... and its only $149 at best buy...

takes 1 AA battery (lasts pretty long too)
comes with computor software, wall plug, headphones, and one mini disk. mini disks can hold up to 5 hours of music.

you CAN get a better model (not in durrable sport, and much smaller, but i wanted the dussability of the sport model)

add $50 to that limit and you can get yourself a Creative Nomad Zen. Slightly bigger than an Ipod but considering the price per gig (20gigs) who cares.

Zen & Ipod = Toshiba Gigabeat's Bitches. Forgot about Toshiba's new player. Comes out in Japan in October. Toshiba will release it in the states if they make some money over in Japan. If you thought the Ipod was small, wait till you see this one :)
