View Full Version : Queer Eye for the Str8 Guy:
I dont know the exact title but its along the lines as Queer to Staight. Well anyways, I been hearing about it on the radio and it sounds hysterical. Its like 5 gay guys trying to makeover striaght guys. It will be airing on the bravo channel. Anyone heard of this?

Yeah it was on last night ... one at 10 and one at 11. The Fashion guy Carson had a lot of zingers. Each one is responsible for a different slice of life: fashion, food & wine, interior design, grooming, and culture.
The first show was an artist with long greasy hair living in a sty. He was having his first gallery show and by the end, everyone was flabbergasted when they saw him walk into the room especially this one girl who was a close friend or a sort of girlfriend (wasn't sure).
The second show was this guy in Great Neck who hadn't remembered his wife birthday in like 8 years and he wanted to do something special for her. This one was really sweet cuz you could tell he was really excited about all the changes and he was really sincere in wanting to do something special for his wife who was amazed.
Throughout the show they have little tips for this and that. I think the format could use some tweaking, but overall I think it delivers without making gays or straights look bad or silly except for in the lighthearted way you would expect. It should make for an interesting and fun season.
Another show on Bravo premiering in two weeks is called "Boy Meets Boy." It's similar to "The Bachelor" where a guy gets to know about 15-20 guys and in the end he chooses one. The "twist" here is some of the guys are actually straight and the bachelor doesn't know that. I think it will be interesting to see how the straight guys perform and how the interactions among them all will play out ... and the implications for gay and straight guys alike.
Great Review Brutha......
ANd that twist is really fucked up in Boy meets Boy....Say if he really likes a straight guy...Thats effed up..lol

Yeah, that's the situation that I'm most curious to see. I know a lot of people (gays in particular) probably can't see this show possibly working with this twist because they assume that the guy will be able to "sniff" out the straights, but I think that in this situation, he'll see what he wants to see especially when he's assuming everyone is gay to begin with.
In one of the scenes in the "trailer" for the show, you see that bachelor talking to one of the guys and the guy says, "Why did you assume I'm gay?" So I don't know how scandalous this will be, but most interesting without a doubt.
Well,
Maybe hes aware that he has to sniff them out. WHo knows but if he doesnt thats just wrong.

But that's my point ... I don't think his gaydar will be all that much useful if he's assuming everyone is gay already. If anyone strikes him as "straight," then that guy will be "straight-acting" but still gay in his mind.

Anyway the network could have done w/o this show. I rather like the show. This isn't reality TV so much as it's a comprehensive Martha Stewart Living from a quite different perspective :TEETH
