this will cause me to have thunder thighs i swear.

i prefer green tea ice cream tempura. any other flavors are too sweet imo.

yeah ice cream is bad enough add fried batter to it... i guess it can't be too healthy for you. how did they even think of frying ice cream? at first glance it sounds like an oximoron... but in fact it's delish! those japanese people... they know what they're doing! :agree :applaud

no idea... they're geniuses!!!! im sure we can google it... but part of the fun of eating it is not knowing how it's made. it's like a mystery food. the fact that you cant figure it out makes it so much more delicious. :heart

and if anyone would like to know for their own reference, please refrain from posting it... i don't want it in my thread.. thanks! :heythere

i still have some in my freezer because i didnt eat it all because i knew it wasnt healthy (i knew it even before you confirmed) ... so i would just throw the other half at you and that would be healthy because id be saving myself from a few 100 calories :snobbish

i was told that they freeze balls of ice cream til it's hard as a rock. then coat it, and drop it real quick in hot grease. the outside gets cooked and the frozen hard ice cream is still cold.

i love it too. i've only had vanilla and red bean.

uh oh, sweeet is not gonna like you giving the secret away lol

about red bean, i like the taste of it, but sometimes it can have a sandy texture to it, which i dont like. try with green tea flavor, its the bomb!

That was my first thought... I didnt think this was really japanese in origin, I thought it was Mexican. :hmmm



Ps.... Meeeshy, I find it harder to believe you actually got the thing from the restaurant to your house mid-summer than I do to think they fried ice cream, haha.

:shrugger I don't know what to tell you PEANUT... I've been sweeet since 2000! What would you rather me be called?? I'm up for any suggestions :hmmm

This was the sequence of events: I placed my order over the phone and told them I'd be there in 10 minutes. I paid w/my my cc over the phone so that would save me some melting time. :drive Then I zipped over to the sushi place, picked it up, and zipped back to my apartment. I put the container w/the ice cream in the freezer... while I devoured my sushi and then zipped into the freezer to get my yummy dessert. :gimme

I have to admit... I did get to a red light that was quite long and I was seriously contemplating running it just so my ice cream tempura wouldn't be ruined but luckily it turned green before I risked my life.

I believe the mexican kind is made a little bit different. I've only tasted the japanese kind though.

Good story tho... I dint realize you picked it up to go, I was thinking more along the lines of they wrap it up while you pay your check, you go back to your car, etc etc.
