when i beat match i use the pitch only,i only touch the plate when i release the record im goin to mix eithier to speed up or slow it down do to a late or early release.i'll say im about 95% acurate and some days im 99.9 % acurate with doin it that way.i know if i was to use the plate also ill be 99.9% percent acurate all the time.the reason i started beat matchin that way is because, you know at times when you use the plate to speed up or slow down you can hear the change, and i hated that so i turned to riding the pitch.and i love it,but its also hard to master.so my ? was is it impossible to be perfect with the pitch ride or do i need to practice just a bit more.also does anyone else do it this way.i know a lot of superstar djs do.i would appreciate your feedback.thank you

I never touch the record or platter when mixing.... I had taught my self from day one only to use the pitch. sometimes I have one hand on the pitch the other on the mixer as i'm mixing out.... but the mixes are much smoother as you cant really hear any changes by using the pitch only. once you know your pitch you can do it with ease.....

i'm guessing it all depends on how drastically you touch the track & plate to beatmatch, if you speed up the plate too much it will cause an obvious noticeable change in the sound, it would probably be easy to push the plate and record to a point that it won't be noticeable, good enough to fool the ears of listeners, and if you know that by using the plate your going to create a very noticeable change, then just stick to the pitch ;) it doesn't hurt to master them both.

If your hands arent too sweaty u can grab the axle(stick in the middle) and twist if u dont want a drastic change

If u swing the plate at the rite time, u will not hear the change... If u turn it at the wrong count u it will be very noticable... But I can do both...
