After a terrible, Terrible, TERRIBLE last 7 years in the middle east, thanks in large part to the foreign policy of the worst administration in our history, the outlook is looking decent.
Ill be the first to say take progress in the ME with a grain of salt, but the following can only be postive
1) Renewed life in the Palestinian/Israeli Peace process (the moderates on both sides have finally stepped up to the plate, and the US, thanks to Rice, have brought all Arabs to the table including Syria) ....
2) Lebanon has come up with a compromise president that both March 14 and the oppostion have agreed to.
3) Devasting news to NeoCons and GOP Hawks about the intelligence report saying that Iran has stopped persuing WMDs since 2003 as IS NOT AN IMMINENT THREAT.... hence discrediting Bush and co. rhetoric and discrediting the GOP candidates who have so far been trying to outdo each other on who would bomb Iran faster and harder..... lol ... dicks, take a seat, gonna be a long LONG 4 years.
4) Iraq is still hell, but thanks to the surge of troops at least less people are dying, can only hope that there will be a political solution soon. I, along with most people, highly doubt it.... but hey if i can hope for the palestinians and israelis to work it out, hopefully the sunnis and shia of Iraq will do the same.....
5) Looks more and more likely that a dem will win the presidency and more seats in congress and senate.... making this country, overnight, a more credibel, peaceful, and patient country..... which in turn will marginalize the extremists of the world.... the losers of this outcome will be the "Islamofascists of the world AND the neocon right wingers - strange bed fellows , ey? lol"

Ill be in Lebanon during Christmas and New Years and I cant begin to tell you guys how happy I am about the political resolution out there.... i was scared for a moment I will be ducking bullets while yelling out the countdown for the new year
