exactly there should have been more filler, like the conversion to zombies, the zombies hunting the survivors, or maybe an extra day with a little more back and forth between him and the zombies..........dog dying was definitely the roughest part.

sam was awesome :heart
i have nothing new to add to what's been said...scary/suspensful in places (like the scene when sam runs into the dark and Will Smith discovers the "hive"), abrupt ending (and what was with the whole "mission from God" thing?), oh, and I thought how they made NYC look abandoned and gone to the weeds was pretty cool. oh and one thing that sort of bugged me...they developed the leader of the zombies into well, a leader, even though previously Neville said about the infected that they had "complete social de-evolution." Well, if the zombies had a social structure, it couldn't have been a COMPLETE de-evolution now, could it have? :grumpy

They explained what happened throughout the whole movie. It was a cancer cure developed by modifying a measles vaccine that went bad and caused freak genetic mutations that left people uncontrollably mad, hyperactive and sensitive to light (why some of you are saying they are zombies is beyond me).
And yes Will Smith dies at the end. I won't say how. Ending was fine even though it was a little abrupt but the point of the plot was made.
And I also noticed the Batman vs. Superman billboard as well. If anyone sees the movie it shows up in the beginning when Will Smith goes hunting in Times Square.

thats exactly what i was thinking. a bit contradicting right?. i thought that was the creepiest part when he found the zombies in the dark room of the abandoned building..looked like they were feeding off something...i thought it was the dog at first! =(

they were infected humans, not dead humans, and they were goddamn scary b/c they still looked somewhat human.
when monsters look too outrageous they tend to be less scary. i personally felt the part where they baited/trapped him to be creepiest.
you shouldn't go to this movie expecting an oscar caliber plot. it's supposed to be scary, creepy, exciting, w/ a few funny one liners thrown in. I think it hit all those points.

mutt gets whacked?
i'm sorry i cry for the defenseless and not for those that can help themselves. it's not unheard of for people to have more compassion for animals than for other human beings. most people have far more compassion for babies than adults, why? b/c they're defenseless & loving.
watching an animal die is far more upsetting than watching the 2000th person die in that film when you don't give a shit.
fuck people, animals are genuine and you're damn right I'll cry when "a mutt dies", real or fake.

anyways, i just took a midday break from the office to go catch a matinee. i really like it. i thought it was done exceptionally well. the length was fine, the plot was good and underlying themes were well-constructed and tied together. for a sci-fi action adventure, i give it 3.25 stars, maybe 3.5 . the cinematography in the scene with sam was fantastic!

You also must give will smith credit... for much of the film he was the only one on the set... thats very difficult to do as an actor. My boy was in that film across the universe and he talks about acting all the time. Will Smith knows very well how to express emotions infront of that camera. When that mut died, he was crying, you saw the teers come down his eyes... he made himself cry. Thats tough to do when on command.
