Doesnt sound like a song KTU would put on thier regular playlist to me. But even if it was, why would that "ruin" the song? Wouldnt you want your favorite artists to gain more exposure with a larger audience and actually make a living for thier talents?
Ok granted, KTU plays its share of cheesy music, but they play thier occasional good music and to be honest, I think we are lucky to have a dance music station. Its one of few in this country and its a market that should grow and not be rejected. Fuck the "underground." Music should be heard and enjoyed by as many people as humanly possible.

underground is where it all comes from , if we didn't have an "underground" per se ,where would ben watt, ebtg, moby, bjork and people like that be now?

fuck the underground????? Underground is what makes the songs hits, what blows them up, and throws them out there for the curious, it's for strict music lovers who search deeper every day for sickk trax insted of tuning to 103.5 and there you go, what maxim most likely meant is that when hits get commercial after they were underground, they get heard, played and listened to in every corner, on almost every dance station every 2 minutes. It's great for the artist no doubt, but would you prefer listening to a song that you love every now and then, or every 2 minutes so that in 2 days you can be sick of it?

Ur right, underground is where it comes from, but it shouldnt be summoned to stay there forever because then what would be the purpose of making music? For only the select audience to hear it?
Noone is forcing you to listen to the radio. I know for a fact Max doesnt listen to KTU often at all, so if its on the radio for people that do wanna hear it every 2 minutes, then whats it to you?

certain music will never be played on ktu cuz its too underground for the target audience of listeners. there are songs that may be considered cross-over, and may get played out through the radio, but thats just the price you must pay to have a dance station. be thankful you can even hear good tunes on the radio. i dont even bother turning mine on anymore.

it all depends on who's playing it and who notices the track. people usually follow trends that their favorite djs set for them. so if some of the more commercial djs play this which will happen in no time, it will be on ktu and since it is a good song it will get played

we are eons behind eroupe in quality radio. we need more station to play this shit and maybe eventually we might have a kiss fm of our own instead of ripping sets off of soulseek.

so true..its funny how u.s. should be blowing quality music up, i found it weird but loved it at the same time when i went down to colombia and i heard a radio set of carl cox ripping shit apart..one of the sickest sets i've heard from the guy. We need our own station..we get all the hip hop we need, all the spanish music we need, all the country music we need, all the oldies and blues we need..where the hell is all the house, tech, and deep shit we need?? not enough time on the air.. ;(***

there is house music on the radio, you just have to dig for it
for in stance, some dl stations like 90.9 and 99.5 have some time
devoted to house music. You dont necessarily have to like what
they play, which if i had to choose id choose the liquid sound
lounge over wkrb's version of dance, but you do have to \
acknowledge that they do play it. Ktu has its good two hours on
saturday and nice disco sets on sunday, which if youre interested
in you can find loads of stuff like disco and funk on the radio
spead out on the dial. saturday nights is also classics night on
98.7 which has some great warm up dj's, sometimes. I am not
implying that the music is great all the time, however i am
suggesting that its not bad all the time, just like kiss fm is not
always up to par. Even fridays there was a paul oakenfold show
on KTU just like on the rest of the planet.
Radio was never a medium to transmit underground sounds that noone ever thought of hearing on a daily basis, it was a place to hear music for the masses. if underground music is what youre in the mood for, then you would get up and go to any of the hundreds of "underground" places in NEW YORK -just in case you forgot, it is the underground capitol of the world - to get your individuality reassured. You guys have nothing to worry about when comparing yourself with Europe unless youre comparing food.
One more thing about radio you guys forgot is that it is free. In order to keep riding the waves radio execs. have to gain revenue through advertising. In order to gain advertising revenue the radio stations have to have an audience, which if considerable enough will get more revenue into the stations, which in turn keeps them on the air.
I wish i could go on but there is work to do. i guess you may deduce whatever you wish out of all this jargon, however my personal take on all this was that it was totally uncalled for.
