Went there saturday, got the reservation that day don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, love the decor of the place, got a great table right in the window, real pretty & chic. Started off drinking Lemon Grass Mojito's, great flavor but not really enough alcohol(which turned out to be a good thing) & they serve you some rice paper for like bread, which was actually delicious
Appetizers
kumamoto oyster shooters with wasabi tobiko & quail egg, this comes out in an actual shot glass, oyster on bottom with like yuza ice on top of it and the whole quail egg sitting in vodka, so you bang it like a shot first you get the soft quail egg, then like a rush of salt then the oyster, delicious......ordered a 2nd round.
shrimp & black miso dumplings with a spicy jalapeno & miso broth - simple dumpling stuffed with shrimp, broth was delicious it was like pouring liquid crack on it, once you had a little taste you had to drench it.
We skipped the robata which looked delicious at the table next to us, basically like a fancy kabob choose your own ingriedients.
Sushi & Sashimi
spider soft shell crab, asparagus, avocado, spicy japanese mayo
roll was declious, the japanese mayo on top was awesome & the crab had a nice taste and was crispy in a few of the pieces.
Also we had Salmon & Fatty Tuna sashimi, probably the best fatty tuna I've had anywhere.
Entree
tuna "porterhouse" with wasabi bearnaise - HUGE piece of fish comes out on the bone & with chargrilled outside like a steak. Pan Seared & Raw on the inside, thing was fucking excellent biggest piece of fish I've ever seen in size & thickness, never has a piece of fish filled me up so much, definitely for 2 people or more if your sharing.
Dessert
Chocolate Sushi - Real clever concept, comes out just like a roll of sushi would, you order it in pieces $3 a pop, likes exactly like sushi, instead of ginger, they have like paper thin razor blade cut like candied orange or something which was so fucking delicious, the sushi it self has like a real thin kind of cookie outside, i think one half of the inside is like a vanilla or a pastry cream, and the other half is like a dark, dark moussey chocolate, was the perfect small dessert after all I ate.
Went for a few drinks upstairs on the roof(which was really bumping) after before heading out in the meatpacking, would definitely go back, especially in the warmer weather because the place has a dope outside dining area and everything tasted great, only downfall of the night was getting pulled over and having to blow a breathlayzer........thank god those mojitos weren't strong :)
