I stopped really paying attention to US news channels lately and I watch the BBC almost everuy night. They are always talking about fuel boycots and how truckers and farmers are shutting down highways over there because they cannot make money with the rising prices of fuel. Everyone here, in the US, is complaining yet we don't see that happening here. Diesel is over $5.00 a gallon yet truckers are still paying this exhorbitant pricing without taking any extreme action. What if the teamsters just shut everything down one day to boycot the fuel. If they did that the fuel could not even be delivered to the gas stations for the cars.
Remember the UPS strike. That put much of our economy on hold for a little while. I say shut it down and make a point!!!!

yeah its pretty crazy but i assume the truckers (like everyone else) are paying because they have no other choice. Boycotting isnt the answer. They need to show up to work everyday to get paid. You know what Im saying?

Most truckers are owner/operators and the trucking business works a little differently than most business's that people are used to. Companies use brokers to shiop there products and the brokers hire the truckers at a lwer rate. the brokers have very little overhead and the truckers get screwed. The rate has not really increased with the price of fuel recently and many truckers are finding that they have to park the equipment because they are losing money.
A lot of these truckers are getting the trucks repo'ed because they can't make money right now so maybe what they need to do is get together and park there stuff on the highway somewhere.

Well in Europe in some countries they pay $3.00-$6.00 tax per gallon, thats why they are going crazy there. In US with state tax we pay under $1.00 in taxes. Don't get me wrong $5.00 per gallon is high, but not as high as some countries in Europe.

Your right about that Dmitry, we are lucky overall. The only thing I don't understand is how diesel is more than gas. Up until 2 years ago diesel was always the cheapest fuel. It is the cheapest fuel to refine but now it is th most expensive fuel. That's the only think that I don't understand. You are right about the taxes hough, thanks for setting me straight on that.
