I have my certifications still(not sure which ones need to be updated), along with my degree in Sports Medicine but don't use either of them anymore, lol....

It depends, two that I received I needed my degree for but others like ACE, AFTA, AAAI & ISMA, etc....you can either take a weekend course and then take the test or buy the material and take the test....I imagine things have changed somewhat since I received mine....

u don't even have to take a class, you can take the test online.

I don't know off the top of my head, but I'm sure you could just type it into a search engine and it will bring a whole bunch of sites up, the test really isn't that difficult at all, more like common sense stuff.

I took the ISSA certification back when I used to work in a gym but never took the CPR course that's required to complete the certification. I never planned on being a PT I just did it to learn for myself because I used to be into the whole scene and working out. It was a 2 day seminar with an exam at the end (issaonline.com).
