Stretching a lot before lifting actually makes you weaker during your workout. Only stretch a little bit during your workout. You're better off doing your hardcore stretching after your workout to aid muscle recovery, minimize soreness and maximize flexibility.

does that include b4 u do running / cardio?
if i dont stretch b4 i run, my hamstrings, and thighs tighten up...

No, I'm talking about weight-lifting. Stretching is essential, but stretching your chest for five minutes before doing chest is too much (you got that, Matty K? lol).

Make sure to warm up and stretch...just not too much!
