Has anyone ever experienced sleep paralysis? It happens to me once in a while and it's some scary shit. You're about to fall asleep and all of a sudden you can't move. You realize you're not asleep, but you can't move or speak no matter how hard you try. Sometimes it's accompanied by hallucinations as well, which might explain why people often feel like they have something watching them as it happens. I read that it happens to about 20% of the population so I was just curious if this has happened to anybody else.

Joey normally people that suffer from this have high anxiety. Do you have wake panic attacks?

I dont know if sleep paralysis has ever happened to me but i know that 4 times in in the past year my right arm has fallen alseep to the point that I wake up and its completely numb and unmovable. I usually pick up the numb right arm with my left hand and shake it out. Its really a bizzare feeling. You can kinda feel your right handing touching the numb one but not really.

you just need more sleep, to reduce your stress (is that really possible), and keep a reg sleep pattern.

I get dead arms all the time in my sleep, but I think it's from sleeping on them. That's a sick feeling too because you feel the weight of your dead arm hanging when you try to get the blood to flow back in lol.

I believe the sleep paralysis was caused from disrupted sleep patterns, considering that I never slept on weekends and never slept enough on weeknights. It's definitely not from anxiety; I'm too apathetic for that.

Come to think of it, this happened to me once or twice after a long night/day at sf. At night it would seem like I am almost asleep and be stuck for a few seconds.. thought I was gonna have a seizure or something. Very scary shit.

Joey, a friend of mine brought this up as she's working on it as her topic for one of her grad school psychology papers (thought it was pretty weird that you posted this recently too, since before your post I never knew this was a health issue) and she sent me this site was lots of info on it: http://www.arts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/S_P.html

Yea, it seriously feels like a 30-lb limb is hanging off of your body. You can't move it and it just swings like dead weight when you move around lol.
