The man behind PORTABLE is Alan Abrahams, also know as Bodycode.
As Craig Richards says, 'Alan Abraham's live show is one of a kind.'
His experimentation in combining 4/4 house with various traditional South African rhythms and his own vocals, gives us a commentary on the political turmoil of his country back then in many of his tracks.
He has released records on labels such as ~Scape, Karat, Spectral, Mutek, Revolver, and in 2008 he has released records on Musik Krause and the legendary Perlon label. "Knowone can take away" on Perlon was voted by Groove Magazine in 2008 as the best 12" of 2008.
On the US based Spectral label (home to Matthew Dear) Alan produces under the guise of 'Bodycode.' His debut album 'The conservation of electric charge' is an absolute winner and was released in 2007 as well.
Alan also runs his own record label entitled Süd Electronic.
