Is it possible to get shoulder pain from the way you rest your arm on your desk everyday to click the mouse? I also tend to fall asleep with my right arm above my head which I think is adding to it. Its freakin killing me right now and for the past couple months has hurt on and off. It hurts like in the socket, throbbing pain. Anyone have this, I dont think it could be serious like torn or whatever but wtf do I know.

Stop sleeping like that, I have noticed if I doze off in a position like that it will feel a little weird when I first wake up. Even if im on my stomach. It definately cant be too good.

I usually sleep on my back, but the only side I can sleep on when its not killing me is my right.

I would say the way YOU are sleeping is def the casue I dont know how people sleep on their stomachs I cant do it.

my CF trainer told me that i shouldnt do it any more lol but im so accustomed to it.

I found out, believe it or not, that performing soft tissue stretching on my LATS relieves this tightness.

I doubt that it's from how you're resting your arm on the desk at work but it very well could be as a result of your sleep habits.

Were you being serious when you said that you hit in your sleep? If so, that would suggest that you're an active sleeper. If that's the case, and your arm is in a strange position, you could exasperate the condition in your sleep. I have seen/heard of this before. Furthermore, after I had my shoulder basically reconstructed last spring, I had to wear the immobilizer to bed for an extra 2 weeks after I stopped wearing it for day to day activities. The reason is you don't have any control of your body movements in your sleep and harm could have come to the affected area.

Also, are you working out a lot? Often times, shoulder pain is a result of poor form when working out. The shoulder is an amazingly strong joint, when used in the direction it is meant for. Change up the direction of pressure by just a little bit and you’ll have nothing but chronic problems, (Tendinitis, Bursitis, Impingement syndrome, etc)

Try taking some anti-inflamatories like Advil or Motrin, stay away from aspirin or Tylenol. If this doesn't help, go see the Dr.

I def hit in my sleep, I move around alot. I once punched my best freind directly in the back of the head when we were sleeping.
Ah I have been slacking at the gym so I doubt its from that right now. But I do work at a resturant and i tend to grab huge stacks of dishes at once which is stupid.

best thing you can do is stretch it out. get some blood flowing to the muscle and loosen it up
