and what kind of food do you like to pair with it????

I like both red and white, so I have different answers for both. I like Caberbet Sauvignon a lot and it goes real well with richer foods and meats including game. And for Whites I am a fan of Reisling although I like all other grape variaties as well. Reisling is great with chesses, salads and lighter dishes, chicken, or fish.

California Wines are def making their mark among world renowned wineries. I was very impressed by the stuff they are producing over there. Opus One, Robert Mondavi, Kendall Jackson, Jordan, Martinelli, all great ones plus the hundreds more.

The most popular Chilean Reds are Merlot and Cabernet by far with aromas and flavors of red currants, strwberries, blackberries and red plums. They are not as complex as North American or Bordeaux wines but are tasty and def food friendly. Some names to look for are "Santa Rita" "Concho y Toro" which is the largest winery in Chile, "St. Morillon", "Cousina Maucul", "Jose Canepa", "Miguel Torres", "Undurraga", "Los Vascos", "Santa Carolina", and "San Pedro". These are the quality ones I know of so look for those. But be open to try new ones and let me know how they are.:D

the thing about pinot grigio is that there a thousand companies that make it and they all taste different. You have to find a good brand and stick with it. I love white wine with pasta and seafood.

Another good one to try if you like German Reislings is 1999 Von Kessel Staat, or 1998 Scharzhoffberger, Muller, both Reisling and very good.

I haven't had a chance to taste any wines from Long Island as far as I can remember. I know Upstate NY has a bunch of nice wineries that produce some good wine.
