i had my bday dinner there 2 yrs ago.. steak was ok.. the fat goose truffle potatoes and spinach were slamming

atmosphere was very relaxed but not as intimate as they portray it to be.. its modelled after a french burlesque 'whorehouse' type theme. Service was kinda slow

its a decent place... nothign to write home about tho

2) Peter Lugers in bklyn.. porterhouse is bangin
3) Archer's in hoboken.. packed
4) Steak n Ale in ramsey (rt.17) :heart
5) Moishes in Montreal... best steakhouse in north america period

different strokes for diff folks i guess.

as far as the strip house goes.

i really liked it and i've eaten at all of em.
been there several times and always had good svc.
ambiance is nice as well.

usually i'm getting the strip for two.
they have the best lobster bisque i've ever eaten.
steak was great and i agree with techno's critque on the sides 100%

techno, i think its kinda funny you put steak & ale up there.
i've been there (grew up in bergen cnty) and was there a million yrs ago and the only thing i remember about that place was they served awesome bread, lol.

don't bother going to v steakhouse, it sucks.
great view, great room, thats as far as it goes.

uncle jacks, was there for the first time right b/f xmas.
thought it was good.
me and my friend both asked for our steak med rare and it came out too med for both of our likings.
food was good, svc was also good.
only thing to complain about were the effed up our reservation and had us down for a diff day.
they were accomodating and sat us pretty quick, but would have liked to had a drink bought for us, but cest la vie.
drinks at jacks are $$$. i believe we were paying like 18 bucks a scotch.
also, fyi, the cheapest bottle of wine on the list is like 50 bucks.

some nyc suggestions i'd reccomend:

strip house
del friscos
uncle jacks
palm
sparks

Steak n Ale has a decent salad bar.. the bread is awesome despite limiting my carb intake nowadays and the filets are great... its a hike but worth it for a NJ spot
