have you been into music?
and how did you get into it?

I've been around music all my life...
My mom used to listen to music everyday...
While she was cleaning, cooking, etc;
When I was younger I used to sleep with either a walkman on or my radio right behind my head on my pillow...
And I used to listen to Kool & The Gang every night...
I used to love them, still do...
My sister has a GREAT voice, better than mine...
So she tried to do something with it when she was younger but she came across alot of shady people...
I went with her a few times to her manager's studio, it was in the Bronx...And I went with her to a vocal coach once, that was kool...
I really thought my sister would pursue her singing career...
But she didn't, so of course i'm gonna do my best to get her in...
But it's hard because now she has a kid...
I told her she better make time...

Back then I had no idea I would be where I am today...
I really thought my sister would've made it but she fell in love with a jacka$$ and let it all go...

So when people ask me why I dont have a serious relationship I tell them I really dont have time for men, because I really dont...
I'm really into myself right now & what I want to do for the rest of my life...

Which is to work with music and I will not let anyone come in between that ;)

I still love underground bands... my first club was EXPO 1995 then Palladium thats when I new I wanted to be a DJ.... there is no high like performing for a crowd and feeding off of their energy ,music really is the ultimate drug :)

For as long as I can remember I have been all about the music.
never was much of a musician, but was always interested in the behind the scenes aspect of the music industry...
Started off with internships in college at COlumbia Records and SOny music...went to work in the offices of Limelight directly after college to what Im doing now with Centro, Urban etc...and well lets just say Im taking the next step VERY SOON..and I cant wait

I come from a musicly inclined family... I played the Piano from age 5-12 and it was mandatory with my mom, but I was very good at it, the piano teacher even said I had an amazing ear... I defnetly knew music was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, there was nothing else I was good at....

well growing up I had no choice but to listen to Classic Rock from my father and Disco with my mother

I was mainly into Hip Hop and R&B til about 6 years ago when my radio show merged with a friend of mine who was doing alot of Euro House and House. Eventually I started doing all House music, and picked up DJing as a hobby. Now I realize its all I wanna do with my life

My mom told me that I had been singing since I could talk. I started studying music at 7, when I took my first singing and piano lessons.

My brother used to play piano too, and he was alot better than me. He used to come home and play all these broadway tunes and I'd stand by the piano and sing them.

I'd always tell everyone I wanted to be a singer when I was younger, and now I am. I may not be a superstar because as some of you very well know, some of the biggest stars cant sing a note. It may not be the career that pays my bills, but I'm making music, I'm singing it, and I'm not giving up.

well in my case in the late 70's it was exceptible for a 20 year old mom instead of wasting money on a baby sitter to just take me to the disco, some of my earlies memories were in a club.my mom was a disco queen so to speak, and she knew all the club owners through my family buisness connections so she would take me dancing with her.she would tell me how all the bouncers knew me,and the girls would fuss over me in my little disco outfits,i remember "ring my bell" was like my favorite disco jam,and i used to love the bee gees.and then my first step father(remember this is about music not my mothers 3 marriages, lol)was into like earth, wind and fire, stevie wonder and shit like that.from a young age ive always had a varied aprecieation for all generas of music,my real dad was into johnny cash, willie nelson to jimmy hendrix and dave mason so i got it all.as for my own deveolpment i went in a natural progression, during the 80's we were metal heads the 11-16 year old range then it started to change, metal morphed into punk, then punk bleed into indusltiral, and it was all leading back to the original disco beat i was raised with,in the early 90,s it came back around for me as hard l.a .techno then to house music, now at 30 i find i enjoy almost a mix of all of it,nice soulful vocal house, and with a little evil thrown in is ironically all the music i was raised with combined in a wierd way

my mom used to pump out the john denver non stop over the 8 track player as long as i could remember... and during christmastime out would go the john denver & in went the chimpmunks christmas... amongst other things lol... I was a huge michael jackson fan, copped the red jacket and used to try to rock that like a pro.. didnt work too well... ever since then its pretty much similar to Klee with the walkman all the time lol..

I would have to say all my life thanks to my Mom. Growing up music was always played in my house. then when i went to school i played sax & the violin the both of them i like but, i came across the drums and that was what did it for me in my elementary yrs.
i love music;) even more now cause there are sooo many songs that bring back happy memories of my Mom and growing up. If i wanted to get into the scene i wouldn't try singing even through i sang in the school chorus for my high school yrs. i would want to produce i have an ear for beats from what I'm told. miss lee your the bold one miss. thing cause singing in front of ppl seems a little to hard to for me anyway. Do your thing mama good luck to ya. don't forget the little ppl when u get up there ;) :D

A good topic...

I started playing trumpet in like 4th grade...
Was into break dancing and African Bambatta..Breakin music.
(Eat em up, Eat um up, Eat em up, Yum Yum...) anybody remember that track?
Fast Eddie and Todd Terry were the shit for me that really started getting me into actually wanting to make music. That and my friends dj'ing at clubs and parties at very early ages. I mean they werent even old enough to get into the clubs but the were djing there. I'll never stop. Expect to hear a song from me by this time next year. And it wont be that typical boring format.

my musical influences are all over the map, and thats mostly due to the fact that I started listening to music as far back as I can remember. I was really into hardcore/metal for years (still love it a lot) and then got introuduced to house music. I started out listening to cheese and eventually found my way into true dance music. i listen to a lot of jazz too (coltrane is the man)-..classical-emo-80s...its all over the place...i appreciate music if it has talent. Music is definetly my passion.....
