Has got to go. I know Bush is trying to send out a message to them that they are not after them, but rather after the leaders and all. But when soldiers are being tricked and then ambushed cause of it, its just wrong. We should just go in, tear it up and finish this shit already. If they see there military people out there, they should just spray them with bullets and leave em in the desert. I know some stupid shit is going to happen cause of this nice stuff...........
I can understand what he is doing for the people who live there(non military)(giving them food and supplies) but letting military personal walk away and what not...just stupid.

i feel its because bush is informed of the culture better than any of us sitting here do, which is why that's the approach they are using. most likely, the military will make changes to the protocol for those really wanting to surrender in order to avoid this scenario. there are no rules to war . . . its despicable but anything goes, and those tactics don't really surprise me coming from saddam's regime. take into consideration though that a good chunk of those put on the frontlines are ordinary iraqis who have been handed weapons and some gear and ordered to fight for saddam -- its not a matter of choice for them. they either abide or they will most likely have their families slaughtered before their eyes by saddam's republican/revolutionary guards. under saddam's regime this is very much a reality. i seriously doubt they are just "letting them walk away and what not". this is just a glimpse of a regime whose whole source of dominance over the iraqi people is based on fear and terror. its the ultimate catch-22 . . . do i defend against the opposition and end up getting killed, or do i try to surrender and end up being tortured and killed by the elite guards that are in charge of my unit? i'm not saying all or even most iraqi soldiers feel this way now, but for what its worth, i commend our gov't for making an effort to reach out to those who don't really want to fight for saddam. this seems as much of a psychological war as it is a physical one.

cause there's a fine line we have to walk in this war. Remember we're going in there as liberators not crusaders. We have to demonstrate restraint because we'll need the Iraqi people (including their military) to help rebuild once the saddam regime is gone
we should just outbid saddam's regime. in other words, a good deal of these fighters only fight for saddam b/c they are paid well and/or are intimidated. if we offer them protection as well as compensation, i'm sure 9 out of 10 fighters will turn their weapons on their own country and push that scumbag out.
Well,
From what the News has reported, anyone trying to leave and not fight will be executed so there in a lose lose situation.
