my WMC review:
Got there tuesday night (Armand van Helden was on my flight into Miami 2 rows up and he chilled with us most of the flight, very cool guy and very humble).. rested up for DT @ Space, got there around 2am and heard oscar G set him up very nicely... went from techy to deep and then Danny kicked it off with his anti-war message (no more war) which was pretty much the theme of the week with most dj's. DT kept it deep and chunky most of the night and as much as I love that, the length of the night made it to be a little more monotonous than last year which in my opinion was the musical night of my life. The showcasing of various music wasn't there as much as last year, and it stuck to more of the deep theme which I was predicting anyway. I left at around noon after frollicking around with c-popin for a few hours trying to extend keep ourselves standing.
Wednesday I slept all day and took an easy night out with Max and his friend at the tronic party. Got to hear a load of great dj's in the 3 hrs that I was there (Ignition Technition and Steve Gerard stood out to me) and I am soon going to begin breaks record shopping, I loved what I heard.
Thursday I finally made it to the beach all day, and got to pass by the Billboard party at around 8pm thinking I would stay there all night to hear michelangelo close it up and it ended up closing at 9pm sans a michelangelo set... very upset! Nice meeting D eleni though. Thursday night I took a night off and knocked out for 10 hours.
Friday I hit the beach again, then headed out to the Shelbourne party from 5 - 9 and actually had a good time because I chugged 18 heinekens. Friday night I was pulled to go to the JP party at Menage much to my chagrin and ended up leaving after 1 hour of hell. The sound system made my ears bleed, the lights and the corny light guy made me blind with white strobes on every beat, no a/c had me agitated, the staff are a bunch of idiots, they ran out of napkins and toilet paper so u couldn't even wipe the sweat off of you, the cheesy people that packed the place made me vomit (I'm embarassed to be from NY after that night), and I guess either JP sensed a cheesy crowd who didn't care what was coming through the speakers or he just didn't care much about what he was putting through them so there isn't much to talk about there (not surprising anymore). And $50 is insulting, I want my money back. I left to MAZE with my friend at around 3am finally. I caught the end of John Creamers set and DJ Vibe's set in it's entirety (fukin amazing!!!!!!!!) and this was by far the best 4 hours of my trip. Me and my friend Victoria chilled with MsRay, JoeyJoey, and their friend all night and I had a blast with them all, thank you!!!! After Vibe was done I headed over to Space to catch the last few hours of PVD's set and got together with some more friends there for a great ending to a bad night turned into the best night of my trip.
I hit the beach for a little more on Saturday, knocked out in the afternoon and started getting ready for my flight at 7am sunday... C-Popin came by the hotel and me along with all of my friends ended up wandering the strip, hit up opium (missed Armand and Felix da Housecat though :( ) but caught the end of Liquid Todd's set (very nice, my kind of chill house music), chilled a little more back at my room, decided to miss my flight and leave later on sunday. Headed over to Space for Deep Dish but turned back when they told us $100 at the door (pockets weren't feeling that for the last night of the trip but it sounded nice from outside lol) Headed back to my friends room at the Leows and then headed off to the airport at around noon to pray for standby flights which i finally got at 6pm.
I had a great fukin time with all of my friends, new friends, acquaintances turned friends over the week, nice and hot weather, house music everywhere you turn, tons of friendly strangers all over the place, and lots of memories.
