How do you check if a computer has one and what kind it is?

Go to start menu...then control panel....then click on sound and audio devices, press the audio tab and it should say under default device.

It depends on what your looking for and what kind of computer you are running as far as the motherboard that you have. You have no sound coming out of you comp? what kind of comp do you have?

I dont know what kind of computer it is. Someone built it for my boss. All the volume controls are greyed out & I checked Sounds & Audio devices & nothing was there. I am assuming they just built the computer without one. Im sure all he wants the sound card for is to listen to music at his desk.

I would just tell hime to go to www.Pricewatch.com under the category Mutimedia (sound cards) get the cheapest one which is around $20 should be compatible with what he is running unless its an Apple. And he may need speakers as well.
