Last year even though they won 103 games, i never quite got the feeling they clicked as a team and never quite felt they played the style of ball that wins in post season, and unfortunately i was right.

Pitching, defense and offensive execution wins in the playoffs, they didnt really have any of that last year they just won with the long ball and that upset me because im a big fan of hard nose fundemental baseball.

This year however, even though they still hit alot of home runs , they are much improved defensively in the outfield with matsui in left and a much more focused mondesi in right.....and the starting 5 look like they are on a mission, ive been waiting for pettitte to return to his old form and it looks like he finally has.... and the moose, this could finally be the year he gets that much deserved cy young cause the guy has lights out stuff. Only question is the bullpen which i think will come together once mo and karsay return.

Sky is the limit this year , they could easily top the 98 record

Nice mia.....I picture you as the hard nosed fundementalist when it comes to baseball.....
But i don't see this team doing what the '98 team did. Everything went right for them that year as opposed to this year the injuries are already starting to pile up!!!!!!!

i agree and i also think the bench which was very weak last year is much improved, that will be key in getting some key guys rest (posada) so they dont burn out late in the season.

the starting 5 this year easily tops 98 and giambi hasnt even gotten going yet and they are still 9-2, plus the american league east is very weak and that is the bulk of their schedule, like i said as long as the bullpen doesnt fall apart i can see them winning 110 plus games without breaking a sweat

i can't see this pitching staff holding up for an entire season to challenge the 98 record.

110 wins?????

your nuts considering they have only won 100 + games twice ('98 & '02) since they started this run 94-02......

If the starting pitching keeps going like this anything is possible. With a healthy Jeter & Rivera..................
