Ask any MET fan what the Yankees did last night, what place they are in, how far back Boston is on them, and they will know....
Ask a Yankee fan the same about the Mets, and more likely than not they will reply "who cares"

Plain and Simple.....Ur Bronx Hookers legacy is over. They will not win another World Series anytime soon.

Put a Salary cap in Baseball and they wouldnt have won any. Thats why i hate baseball other than it being a pussy sport.

you act like the Mets wouldn't be over a salaray cap. They have one of the top 5 payrolls in baseball. Just because when they get a player he starts to suck, that's not the Yankees fault.
& BTW 26 World Series Championships in 100 years of existence isn't a bad track record. Name one other sports franchise who has even come close to that.

the last 4 world series were a result of a through the roof team salary too. Canadians didn't have that luxury.

Sorry chief but the yanks didn't really sign free agents until 2001 (Mussina).....
The 4 titles were the result of the minor league system producing guys like Rivera, petitte, jeter, Williams, posada, spencer, ledee, etc. and smart trades (Paul o'neill for Roberto Kelly)
Also everyone made a stink about the knoblauch trade at the time but look at the 3 players the twins got in return (Milton, Guzman, and Buchanan).
The yankees money only effected the team cause they were able to re-sign there own players when others could not...\
The last 2 years did get out of hand though but the fans support the Yankees by showing up to the games and paying some of the highest ticket prices in the league....

this is the ongoing, never ending debate.
I've always given credit to the yanks for the way in which they've built their dynasty. They've done it through their farm system first then filled in the gaps through F/A and Trades.
However you can not debate that because of their willingness to spend money they were able to pry players from other teams via trades for financial reasons. So they have benefited substantially with their high payroll. Don't forget about the Wettland, Fielder, and Martinez trades/acquistions.
But teams have tried to replicate the Yankees formula for sucess and have failed miserably. Just ask Steve Philips.

Thanks, at least someone has some common sense.
Kel E Girl: Go eat an ass because it has nothing to with envy. This has nothing to do with the salary cap for the Mets. It has to do with the overall cap for the whole MLB. How can teams compete when they cant afford names like Matsui,Giambi,Williams,Jeter,Rivera etcetcetc.....you cant. Theres no reason they should have lost last year or the year before. Its pathetic. Thank you.
And Buc: Stop with the Free Agent Bullshit. There team has been Jacked since 95 even though they lost to the Mariners when they should have went all the way. Maybe not cause the Mariners were jacked too.
And lock. The yankees were jacked everytime they won. Canadiens wernt.
Unclebuc
04-23-2003, 01:04 PM
Phuck you really are clueless.....
Teams can compete if they stop being greedy....Owners like the chump in KC recieve over $30 million in revenue sharing and only spend $25 million on their pay roll. That is a fucking joke. 90% of the owners in baseball are greddy fucks and all they care about is putting coin in their pocket.
Yes, the yankees payroll helps them keep their home grown players where others can not. But the team that you root for, The MUTS, are a walking example with what is wrong with baseball. Stupid owners over spending on guys like Cedeno, Vaughn, Burnitz....The yankees always sign the right people....

Exactly.
Anyways look at Patrick GAA for that year. 3.2-3.6 or something. Thats a fucking joke so hes not even a factor.
First off, Id be greedy too if I had a fucking team like the Royals who win 5 games a year. It has nothing to do with being greedy though, it has to do with the Royals having 10 ppl watch there games as opposed to the Yankees who have 10 million watch their games. Going out and getting a Superstar wont help most teams cause most of the teams suck. One player wont make a difference. You need team chemistry which good all around players cant be afforded by every team. But of course, George Steinbrenner can and thats why they win.
PUT A MOTHERFUCKING SALARY CAP IN BASEBALL AND YOU HAVE ALOT LESS TO TALK ABOUT. I AINT SPEAKING FOR THE METS, IM SPEAKING ONCE AGAIN FOR THE WHOLE LEAGUE

it's the tv and merchandising revenue that drives the yanks high payroll. There are other teams out there that draw just as well but don't have the deep pockets. I don't even think the yanks have the luxury boxs (the real money makers) that a lot of these newer stadiums have.

Baseball does need a salary cap, I agree.

The bottom line is this.....george puts his money into his team....not in his pocket!!!!!!

Thats what I was getting at. The Yankees are the most recognized team in ANY sport and have sometimes as half as many fans at away games in places as far as California as the home team has. GET ON THE BANDWAGON~~~~~~
This arguement can go on forever especially how hostile Yankee fans get so Im gonna STFU now.

Keep it mind you cant even sit in NoseBleed seats with parking and food for under 200 and thats regular season. They are the 2nd Highest most expensive team to go to a game and see in the NHL. Especially with todays economy, who wants to pay that. And thats just regular season. Who wants to spend double that to watch them romp all over the Bruins. The same shits going to happen when they walk all over the Lightning. I wouldnt pay to see that tobacle.
And heres some stats for your Roy shit. They could have had Curtis Joesoph in Goal in 93 and would have one...Look at the numbers these fuckers put up in the playoffs...Damphousse 23 points. Some guys DONT EVEN DO THAT IN A SEASON! Likehalf of your pathetic Rangers. Goals Assists Points and PIM

OH fucking stop now.....Your not making any sense.....i said that the canadians always had STACKED teams except 93...which was a surprise that they won cause the Pens were the favorite that year...Patrick won the Conn Smyth, which means he was the MVP of the Playoffs. Your Cujo theory is way off too. Cause if he couldn't win with Detroit and some of those Toronto teams, what in your right mind makes you think that he would have won with the canadians. You contradict yourself all the time.
BTW....in 95 the devs had probably the cheapest ticket prices in all of the league (was a main reason why they were gonna move to nashville) and they still didn't sell out. Ticket prices have very little to do with why people don't go to devil games. Yes, I agree that devs offer very few $25 tickets but reguardless, people wouldn't go anyway. Shit....the Nets don't sell out either!!!!

Oh you fucking stop now, I made plenty of sense. I disagree with your stacked nonsense becase I can counter every year you think they were stacked with a much better skilled team. My KuJo theory is ON point because Montreal was putting up numbers...Did you see his GAA....please..so contradiction is a light year away.
And please dont lecture me on the ticket prices of the Devils. We had season tickets for 8 years. They were rediculously expensive in 95 as to why we got rid of them after the 96 season and they have gotten much worse. The transitional stage of moving to Nashville had nothing to do with the fans attending games. The main reason was because of the Arena lease and the desire to play in a facility that was much more state of the art and beneficial to the organization. I'll thank Christie Whittman for her efforts to keep them here. You want to see a winning team you pay the money, but I guess because your a Ranger fan, you couldnt understand that.

1995.....cheapest seat was $18 and most expensive was $45....thats not bad.
2nd.....I never said that montreal was stacked in 93....I said they were the exception.....But when Montreal won all those cups in the 50's, 60's, and 70's...THEY WERE STACKED....guys like the rocket, Guy LaFluer, ken Dryden, etc. So save your shit for someone else...Read what I fucking wrote for christ's sake.

LMFAO Most expensive seats were $80 bux. ANd that was most the Purple seats. The cheapest i think was 27 bux it may have been 18 but still that was nosebleed seats. When Montreal won all those cups Id guarentee I could find a team that was more skilled team wise every year but a few. I did read what you wrote. Obviously your not reading what I wrote.
Me using CuJo as an example WAS AN ANALOGY MEANING HES SUCKS ASS AND THATS EXACTLY WHY THEY COULD HAVE WON WITH HIM IN 93 BECAUSE THEY WERE PUTTING UP GOOD NUMBERS ON THE SCOREBOARD. So its not a contradiction. They had a really good defense in 93. Why dont you post the Sog per game. Did you fucking call me a squid....lmfao?

U may be right but that shits way off. Im looking at a ticket from the '00 season right now and its and $85 dollar ticket. this is way off from the quote that site gave me and this wasnt even the cheapest ticket.
Now you are contradicting yourself. You said most of the years they were stacked they have the all-stars Vs. the canadiens but you previously used that run as a 6 team league......anyways the diff is Salary Cap wasnt an issue back then but now it is.

how did I contradict myself.....
Yes....it was a six team league....The canadians were stacked and the all-star game was the canadians vs. the NHL all-stars.
I had rangers tix up unti 92-93 and the quotes they gave me are right on the money!!!!!!!
