The above link will take you to an article written by a 24 year old American who is living in Beirut and refuses to evacuate. She has zero Lebanese blood in her, just a typical white, blond california girl who fell in love with the city.....

we have all been trading opinions regarding the Israel, Hezbullah, Terrorism, the United States, Iran, Islam, etc etc ... but not enough on what exactly has been destroyed.

For those of you who do not know much about Beirut or the Lebanese, this article is a short read and very well written...... you get a sense of whats going on there in the minds of the Lebanese (not hezbullah) but just the normal people.....

out of the, literally, hundreds of articles ive been reading, this one hit me pretty hard...... maybe because of the love she shows the city she now calls home

LOLOLOL, u really have to step back and just marvel at the stupidity that arises while people are being blown to shreds and age old conflicts become uglier, here's this typical, dumb american reporting on her experience in Beirut, and instead of drawing upon the political crisis, possibly offering a truthful, non biased view....what does she have to say?!?!? for one, 4 BILLION dollars was expected to be injected into the Lebanese economy this summer, I know, personally, 4 people from the states who borrowed 200k+ from the banks to go there for the summer and open restuarants, cause their estimate was to be making twice that.... thats just a small picture of the big one, if i know 4, imagine how many are there....this is all so important because of the opportunity cost now, whats gonna happen to foreign investment for the next 5-10 years? Lebanons weak economy needed that.......badly....

now it just might turn into an afghanistan you have been trying to paint all this time....

Ok, she got her point across, she loves her "adopted" home and she isn't leaving. Good for her, but let's put this in perspective. For every letter like this, there's probably another american living in Israel who is equally sickened by the idea that it's very existence is threatened. I'm sure there are plenty of foreigners who have made their home in Israel who have grown to love it and are disgusted by the notion that other nations have attacked it, threatened to "wipe it off the map", and suggested it has no right being there.

I don't find it hard to believe people love these places, and I also know the middle east is a lot richer in fuckin culture than 50 and snoop concerts. Amazing we admire what's like our OWN society, in a drastically foreign country.

On the beaches of Damour and Jiyeh, the foreign visitors aren't European sun junkies but Israeli missiles. And the cruise ships docked in the port aren't bringing tourists to Lebanon, they're taking them away.
