push your trip back to the end of June and make sure you hit up Alicante (ibiza is right off the coast) and go to the festival- Las Hogueras (or Fogueres) de San Juan

it is AMAZING...the town parties for a week--there are bon fires and hot air baloons on the beach at night....fireworks over the castle that is on the mountain which you watch from the beach...huge concerts...parties are moved from bars right onto the streets....paper mache statues lit on fire all over town on the last night of the festival---living there was the best time of my life

Costa Del Sol is beautiful all year round, and the people are very friendly even if you don't speak spanish. Barcelona is just amazing and if you can hold out to July 6th you can hit up Pampalona for the Running of the Bulls which was one big carnivale, personally I thought Madrid was overrated, but if you get over towards Portugal Lisbon is great.

the beaches obviously wont be any good that time of the year...but the plus is that you wont be going during high tourism season so you will get the feel of the spanish life

Spain in June is great, I have three things you gotta try:

    1) Bullfight. Go to one and make up your mind if you like it or not. The biggest and best bullfights are staged in Madrid and Sevilla. But every town usually stage a few bullfights every month in the summer season.

    2) Chorizo sausage. This tends to be best if you buy it in the Gracia part of Barcelona, but it is pretty good everywhere.

    3) Jamon Serrano is great tasting ham, but Jamon Bellota is even better (and double the price).
