i did it once like 6 years ago, actually i tore the fascia from one of my (don't even remember the name, small muscle between the ribs) turned purple almost imediiately
was in excruciating pain for 3 days.

i have pulled an ab muscle a few times too, hard to breath a little, it sucks cause your abs are attached to all your movemnts. try to take it easy, lay down and take some advils. feel better bro.

    yup that sounds like it,
i honestly would lay off completely from the gym for a few days.

those muscles seem to get worked even if your not trying to work em, and re pulling something will take 10 times longer to heal.

    I definitely did this....

I'm in so much pain...going to see a chiropractor to get x rays to make sure it's not anything else..

hurts when I take deep breaths, lay on my left side, walk and even just sitting in my chair at work

it doesn't hurt as much when i lean forward though

I have def done this before when I was going to the gym obsessively and it hurts like hell!! And it really sucks cuz u can't work out for a while I think it took at least a week or two to heal when it happened to me

I thought I had pulled something near my ribs before, kinda in the same spot you are talking about. Turns out that when I was doing flat bench press, I dropped the bar down too hard on my chest in that area, and it had bruised. But there was no discoloration, so I would have never have guessed that was the reason. It went away in about 4 days, but it was uncomfortable to lift.

I'm the one who got it from bench press.

From what I understand this is a pretty common injury with guys who lift. But most of the time when you injure yourself by letting the bar hit your chest too hard, you more than likely won't realize that this is what caused your injury.

It's not painful, more of a awkward, discomforting feeling.
