    Health & Fitness Guru's

    So, ive gained a substantial amount of weight in the past year. Not that i dislike the weight, but i dont like the form of it. Now bc ive always been an extremely tiny girl my entire life, i have never worked out or had to eat anything besides what my stomach desired. Recently i feel like everything i eat i just put the weight on more and more. And with the Grave's Disease its not helping any that my metabolism is all haywire, so ive got to make sure i keep a close eye on my weight.

    I have no idea how to work out. And quite frankly, other then the treadmil, i would know what machines are what or even what they are used for. So im basically looking for a simple tone up workout that i can do at home. Besides the whole running deal.

    My main focus points : tummy, upper arms, thighs & butt.


    Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated!!

    gotta get some weight training in there the home workouts will really only take you so far.

    i would start walking an hour each day b4 work and doing some yoga at night.

    i can ask my friend if you want - i remeber she would LITERALLY put on like 20 lbs o v e r n i g h t.

    if anyone knows about what your going thru its her

    * and at least your not gaining weight bc yoru a fat sloth of a pig like me

    weights weights weights,

    if you don't do some sort of resistance training your walking and running really works against you.

    you need to build muscle to burn fat. fat doesn't just go away when you do tons of cardio and you lose scale weight your actually lost water some fat and a whole lot of muscle. the key to looking good is building muscle which will make you appear thinner and leaner and also burn more calories all day everyday.

    i think i wrote this about 35 times already in this forum..

    1 way. work out with weights do cardio, and eat right. thats the ONLY way. believe me. the only way.

    Amen to that because you can take every supplement and steroid you want if you dont follow the basics of eating right and exercising regularly you are just wasting time and money.

    You know whats weird, is that in very few cases does the disease make you gain weight. Normally, bc the thyroid is overactive, it makes you skinny.

    So on top of needing to get into shape, ive got to deal with that on top of it. Which isnt making anything easier for me.

    Def. ask her what she did to regulate her weight and/or tone up. I hate that i dont even eat alot but my body is retarded and keeps it all instead of burning it off.

    even with the use of supps and roids you still need to be very strict work out like an animal or else like you said its a waste of time and money.

    you gotta commit 100%, like swinging a bat or throwing a punch if you don't give it your all and swing for the fences or to decapate ssomeone your just waiting to get struck out or KO....

    see she was having BOTH effects...she would loose a TON then GAIn a ton

    ill ask...she had to get her thyroid removed later on but she still had her metathyroid or soemthing..

    I don't get this. If you're not working out at all and you have x amount of muscle. Then you start doing cardio, which you are actually using your muscles more than before when you were sitting on your ass. So really you should be building a little, so how does it work that you lose more muscle than fat?

    and i think thats gonna be on my only solution to this. being that ive got a huge goiter & it makes my neck look like its pregnant.

    It pretty much says that it's not true that the average person burns muscle from doing cardio and it's most certainly not a "whole lot". I've always felt like this is some bs that musclebuilders like to tell people. It really just doesn't seem to make any logical sense.

    If you have anything that explains exactly how someone is burning tons of muscle by doing a lot of cardio, I'd love to see it. I see so many guys saying that on here but never seen anyone post info on exactly how it happens. I'm just curious.
