    Thumbs up N V

Ok, so I get there at around 12:30. Went right up to the door staff. They were extremely friendly and let us right in. The place kinda reminds me of how Exile was set up (if anyone remembers that place the two days it was open, lol)

Pretty big club, def an Old Space feel to it, dark the way I like it Dance floor the size of the old space at least, with three huge screens next to the dance floor which i think makes the place look bigger and reminds me of a NY club.

Ok the fucking place was FREEZING, they had the AC set on Artic Freeze, if anyone has ever been to Limelight in NY, multiply that by 100. So fucking cold. They have to do something about that, its Miami not Equador.

VIP looks like a nice size and you can see the DJ & entire club from there. Main bar is also positioned well in the middle, so no problems with getting around the club, like in some places.

The DJ booth is huge and the sound was great. When we got there Padilla started spinning and wasnt bad actually, we got up to talk to him and from the sound of it, Space is fucked. NV has Saeed & Palash, DT, Scott Bond booked already. And with the crowd Ivano can pull in it looks like they might actually pull it off for a while, I will def check the place out again.

Well I think Crobar 24 will have a shot, sounds like they arent gonna change much inside, update it a bit, and try to bring in everyone that Space lost when they moved, possible have Edgar as afterhours resident and = Old Space :D

u know they will be getting Bellini to host his "Sunrise Sessions" on the Terrace...and with Edgar V in the mainroom...Space34 afterhours (which holds up that place) is going down....this should be the beginning of the end....for Space

Well now it looks like Crobars plans for downtown are on hold, gonna let the NV vs. Space thing play out. :(

Yeah I'd love that but I think Crobar is gonna play it smart and see how the battle plays out before diving into it...they still have NY to open soon...

seeing that NV and Crobar are related....NV opened up first just to make LP's life a bit uncomfortable...now Crobar 24 is in the works and not too far behind is Nocturnal...they are putting LP against the wall...and i am sure he is feeling the heat...NV now has Bellini fo afterhours...Crobar afterhours and/or NV will prob. bring in the left over Crobar (SOBE) and Opium crowd...this is the beginning of the end...i feel it...

If Crobar goes through with this.....but I agree with your theory, more choices downtown = nightmare for Space.

the only place that can compete with space is the old space..
and its just a rumor that crobar bought it..
i havent seen any real proof that they did..
NV well they cant really put a dent in space.
they already fucked up and lost 80 grand on the opening weekend
they keep that up they will be closed faster then the beach

NV is a cool club... went there Saturday with Saleen and Hog (thanx Dade for the comps)....I thought the club lay-out was nice... I liked the video wall... they need to put some cool-ass videos on it though!

And no more Oakenfold, and David Padilla should be banned from South Florida... he's terrible.

I wish the club luck, but I don't see it giving 34 any competition.

Damn the board is soooooooooo slow today..

Anyway, no one will compete with Space right now... First off, to open a club during the summer is suicide.. you have to wait for the NY'ers to get here in the Fall. And to open with Paul Oakenfold? Come on, he drains your finances ($95k - plleeaaaase).

A club needs to open up with low prices, decent light show, and a house-hold DJ that will pull a crowd... If I was NV, I'd make that shit GAY just to get crowds in there... Look at what JR did with Twilo.. that shit was packed at 5am week end and week out. He needs a residency, bring him down here....

There is soooo much opportunity to make Downtown completely awesome... Screw the beach - they can keep their hip-hop... But downtown is prime for big clubs and good variety (ala NYC). Can you imagine being within walking distance of 3 MAJOR coolass clubs? NV, Space34, and Old Space (Crobar24?)... Holy shizznits... WMC next year! I would pitch a tent down there and camp out!

I don't see NV making it. I would have waited until the Fall to open.
