Went to Boston to visit wifey's family for Chinese New Year. Had a couple stand out meals...
Le's Vietnamese Cuisine (in Alston, right outside Boston) - pretty good Vietnamese food. Had roasted quail which was pretty delicious. Kinda like a midget roasted chicken. Also had soft-shell crab, which was a little heavy on the batter, but tasted great with the onions, tomatos and diced peppers they served over the crabs. - 2 & 1/2 cocoanutts
Trident Bookstore & Cafe (Newbury Street) - pretty good bookstore with a great cafe. Had one of their new breakfast dishes, called a potato chuckwagon. It's shredded potatos and cheddar, wich your choice of meat (I had opted for chorizo), 2 veggies (went with green peppers and onions) and topped with 2 eggs cooked any style (had mine over easy). Easily one of the most delicious breast dishes I've had in a while. I also had Backpain Reliever Juice, which was made up of apple juice, ginger juice, and seltzer. Went great with the meal because each gulp cleared your paleete, so each successive bite was as gloriest as the first. - 4 cocoanutts
China Pearl Dim Sum (in Quincy outside Boston) - really good dim sum. The assorted dumplings, turnip cake, salted baby octopus and other dim sum regulars all hit the spot - 3 cocoanutts
Chinese New Year Dinner was the bomb, too. I learned how to make summer rolls (the fresh egg roll things, not the fried ones, filled with vermicelli, pork, mint leaves, cucumber and shrimp, and served with a dope peanut butter sauce). Also had Crab legs, pork, snow pea leaves and some other stuff that was a mystery to me. Here are some pics.
