With the release of Ideology, Überzone (Q) undoubtedly proves that he has not skipped a beat in the last six years since releasing his last artist album. These past few years have seen Q in and out of the studio working on creating the incomparable masterpiece known as Ideology. His perception of production quality and arrangement is what has solidified his place as one of the leaders in the Breaks scene and why he is championed as one of the genre’s greatest producers.

Since the mid-90s when Q first broke into the scene, he has been pushing forward the genre and turning the music world on its head. During this time you couldn’t walk into a club without hearing one of his über-hit singles “Botz”, “The Freaks” and “2kool4skool.” Released on the esteemed label City of Angels, these tracks made him one of the most sought after remixers, working with Sarah McLachlan and The Crystal Method, to name a few. His rising profile caught the eye of the heavy-hitting electronica label Astralwerks which promptly signed him, resulting in his breakout debut artist album Faith in the Future.

This put Überzone at the top of the electronic music game, leaving many to wonder if it was possible for him to sustain the momentum and level of innovation that he had going. If anyone is still left wondering, even after a slew of mixes and performances, than his second full-length artist album Ideology will quickly squelch any of those thoughts. With this newest release, Q has created an album that is as relevant in the club as it is in the car stereo. Tracks range from the pulsating, dancefloor-packing, soon-to-be-bumping-in-every-club “Satisfaction” to the melodic, hauntingly subtle closing track “Black Hole.”

Programming and creating everything from scratch, Q has seamlessly infused a part of himself into each beat on Ideology. His philosophy on the creative process behind album production is the belief that “the most engaging aspect of writing electronic music is the interaction with the gear—whether it’s a drum machine, a synthesizer or a piece of ‘found sound’ that I’m manipulating in Reaktor. The whole process is the part that I love the most. I love the creative building blocks of the music. The more you’re involved with every single facet of the music, the more your identity is going to be engrained.”

With the completion of the album already accomplished, Q has no plans to slow down and is ready to go on a global tour; his love for performance being second only to production. So, this summer, if you find yourself in the US, Japan and almost anywhere in between –including the desert for the Burning Man Festival - you will have the opportunity to experience the electronic magic that many commonly refer to as an Überzone set.

    Jen Lasher
    (Zone / 2012 / Baltimore / NYC)
    *Electro / Industrial *
Jen Lasher - BoomDa Out Now! on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads
    Main Room 12:30am – 1:30am

One night, in her hometown of Washington, DC, Jen Lasher, a young girl at the time, was exposed to something that would change her life forever. From a very early age Jen was introduced to classical music through her piano training, which igniting the musical spark within her. She loved everything from the period and beyond embracing classical music, opera and theater from artists such as Bach and Mozart and her favorite musical, Phantom of the Opera. Jump ahead to age 14. Some friends took Jen to a new type of music gathering where she quickly fell in love. She experienced a symbiosis of lights, rhythmic music, and a pulsating crowd driven by the universal consciousness that quickly became a part of her. This intoxicating sound consumed the young musician with a fresh understanding and deeper passion for music. After seeing many DJ performances from a dancer's perspective, Jen quickly realized that she belonged behind the decks. Buying turntables and teaching herself to mix, she ambitiously pursued her new craft.

By the age of 19 Jen had already toured the US while gaining international recognition as a vocalist and electronic producer. She had frequently performed at the World-renowned Buzz nightclub (Washington, DC) and was offered her first residency by Lonnie Fisher􀀀s Ultraworld Productions at club Sonar in Baltimore, MD. As a result of her early DJ travels Jen developed a deep friendship w/ DJ Icey and Baby Anne. They encouraged Jen to pursue her dream of making music by supporting her on tour, working with her in the studio, and inviting her to join Icey's label Zone Records Inc. In the studio, Jen co-wrote and sang on Dj Icey's CDs "Different Day" on System Recordings as well as the closing track on his latest CD release "Disco Rodeo" on Moist Music. She and Baby Anne had a billboard-charted CD of their own, "Assault and Battery," on System Recordings which included Jen's driving Industrial influenced single "No More Tears."

This love for Goth/Industrial music created a nice balance and landed Jen a 2nd residency @ Alchemy in DC. It remains one of the biggest nights in the country for the Goth/Industrial genre bringing such names as VNV Nation, Covenant, Shiny Toy Guns, + many more. This gave her an opportunity to develop her diverse musical style while gaining experience throwing large events and booking bands. This undoubtedly sparked an interest in the rock music scene in as Jen has since attended three years of SXSW playing alongside bands, toured for NBC with the Shiny Toy Guns, a residency at NYC’s Highline Ballroom, plus various dance remixes for rock artists. In addition Jen has worked in the studio with Glitch and Tommie Sunshine, their track "Emotion Commotion" landed on Tommie's CD
"Ultra Rock Remixed" on Ultra Records.

A constant need for diversity and growth keeps Jen busy working on new projects. Her recent teaming with fellow B-more local Mickey Fortune aka Oh Snap! has lead to a number of cheeky hip hop tunes gaining worldwide recognition. Their hit "Boom Da" with former Sepultura drummer, now Mixhell, has been remixed by such greats as Crookers & Les Petits Pilous". The newest, unique culmination is with Dave Aude & Christopher Lawrence with a brand new single "Lie to Ourselves". A deep vocal driven track with pop-like qualities is an unexpected breath of fresh air from your usual dance record. This release, due out spring 2009 on Dave Aude's label "Audacious Records" is sure to mark as a corner stone for her future writer’s repertoire.

Jen has made strides in becoming one of America's most beloved electronic artists. With her unique style & live vocal performance/DJ Sets she continues to show she􀀀s a step up on the competition. It􀀀s been a few years since her humble beginnings and she has earned a place with the A list DJs and producers. Jen Lasher is a music monster and she is poised to take over the world. Guaranteed to make the crowds lose control and fall in love w/ her at the same time

    Candy Kid
    (Vitus productions / NYC)
    *Happy Hardcore*
    Dj Candy Kid | MySpace.com
    Downstairs 2:00am – 3:00am

Originally from Belarus, Russia, Slava a.k.a. DJ Candy Kid has been tearing it up with his unique style and adrenaline-packed sets of HappyCore, Gabber, DnB, and Acid & Euro-Trance since 2001. Slava got into electronic music back in '93 listening to Marusha, Blumchen, Scooter, WestBam, DJ Hooligan, Das Modul, Dune, Charlie Noise & Mental Theo, Red 5 and Brooklyn Bounce. When Slava's uncle introduced him to DJing, he saw how fun it was and what an amazing positive effect it could have on a crowd. Dreaming of becoming a DJ, he was finally able to buy equipment and records after moving to New York City.

Some people wonder why Slava picked the DJ name Candy Kid, so here is the reason why. When he was growing up in Belarus, Slava ate so much candy he earned the nickname sweet-tooth. He chose the name candy kid from this, before he came to America. He had never heard of candy/candykids before that. A lot of people think he chose that name because he is a candy kid, but ironically that part came later.

Starting with Trance, Slava began spinning UK Hardcore soon after. His love of music fueled his desire to play out at parties. Now, he rocks dancefloors all across the East Coast, to the Midwest and Canada, bringing his infectious love and energy to ravers everywhere. He was selected to play at WEMF 2003, where he spun an explosive two hour set, and was asked to return in 2004. His ability to pack a room and make people go crazy until the last record drops is an indescribable experience.

Slava's performances have inspired party kids who weren't previously into Happycore to fall in love with it, taking them on a magical journey through his sound. His love for the music and scene is apparent through his interaction with the crowd. And don't let the name "Candy Kid" fool you - this kid can throw down some hard beats, showing you that even nice kids have a dark side!

Slava has been working hard on producing his own tracks, and has recently collaborated with Starkiss and released a new Happy Hardcore CD, "Dude! Where's My Hardcore?" (June 2007). He has also collaborated with How Hard to make a Hardcore vs. Happycore battle demo CD entitled "Blood Has Been Shed" as well as a live set from Global Revolution (October, 2004.) He's also released a plethora of other DJ mixes to be found on this site and his personal site, and he's showing no signs of slowing down. This artist's journey has only begun!
