If you noticed that your PC is not as fast as it use to be, especially during boot up, then here is a guide I created on how to get it to run faster, cleaner, and quieter:
-First, you have to uninstall programs that you no longer need, or use. Go to control panel and click on "uninstall programs"
-Second, install iobit "Advance System Care" (Free Edition) click here to download
once you download it, install it. Once installed run "deep care" then just follow the screen directions. The system care will also install a small pop up on the top right corner, if your system needs care then it will be labeled either letters "C" or "D". "A" means its in good health. Its good to run system care once a month.
-Third, install AVG Free Anti-Virus if you don't have virus protection. Click Here to download free AVG. Once installed run the scan.
-fourth, download and install Soluto, install it and reboot your PC. Click here to download. This free software will speed up your boot up time to at least 50-75%. Just follow the on screen directions when running this software.
Making your system quieter (not recommended for laptops)
Most computers today have more than 1 fan to cool off parts of your PC, my PC for instance has 4 fans. There is no need to have these fans running at full speed all the time. What I did is install a free program called speedfan, when my CPU temperature drops below 98 degrees it drops the fan speed 10-20% along with my motherboard fan and the case fan. Once the temperature on my CPU goes above 103 degrees it puts the fans on full speed (100%). Since most of the noise coming from your PC are from fans by setting up this program to adjust fan speed depending on the temperatures of your CPU and motherboard will make your computer much quieter, you will love it, it makes a huge difference.
click here to download speedfan, click on help(once you have the speedfan open) to learn how to set it up.
once you finish setting it up, make sure to have it open on start up.
Final Step (for advance users) is to invest in a SSD (Solid State Drive), you dont need a big drive anything between 60gb-100gbs is good enough since you will only use your SSD drive for your operating system and programs you use the most like MS Office, internet explorer, ect. You can get a SSD drive at tigerdirect for around $100. Its very easy to install, the hardest part is moving your operating system to this drive. You will need a free image software to backup your drive C (or where ever you have your OS installed) then restore the image to your new drive. The speed of your boot up will be blazing fast, your programs will open much quicker. Its the best $100 investment.
Well that's it, if you need any help with anything just let me know.
I reduced my boot up time from 98 seconds to 23 seconds, and my system is super quiet 95% of the time.
Hope this was helpful
