    Question Costa Rica

    Hey ya'll

I'm booking my annual getaway and I'm a little stumped as to where to go this year. I love the Caribbean and had a few destinations picked out to choose from but then I got to reading about Costa Rica and it's now moved to the top of my list but aside from what I'm able to gather online, I really don't know much about it. I'm not a roughing-it-in-the-jungle type of girl but it looks like some of the hotels and B&B's are atleast 4.5 stars.

Just curious is anyone had any feedback, advice, tips, suggestions....

stayed at the fours seasons there-nice hotel-surfing was good but I was a bit disappointed in the actual ocean there-it is a unique trip cause you can go to both the ocean and the jungle -make sure you dont go in rainy season

i was looking at the four seasons
    it looks absolutely GORGEOUS

i also checked out a few other places not far from liberia airport. most are small B&B's in the jungle with beach access not far. i see alot of suggestions for renting a car also, did you do that?

i have so many questions lol

no car rental but the hotel is a bit off the beaten path as they say-just had hotel transfer to and from the airport and booked a few excursions but mainly just chilled at the property

I would not stay at a b and b for sure -you have to remember where you are

even the ones that are 4-5 stars? they seem pretty legit. and most that i've looked at are close to the airport so i wouldn't be driving 3 hours into the middle of nowhere...or atleast i don't think so lol
The Hilton, Marriott and Westin all get mediocre reviews but i also think ppl expect more lavish accommodations, forgetting they are in the jungle and therefore give meh reviews....

So far Los Altos de Eros is my favorite non-chain resort and it's in Tamarindo. For the dates I'm looking to go, the Four Seasons is about $1K/night. Yikes. But looks A-MA-ZING!!

if we were talking bermuda I would say b and b is fine but costa rica my personal opinion is no way-you dont want to get robbed or worse- now I am sure some will say odds are that wont happen etc...I also am not a fan of most b and bs-intimate setting means many times lack of privacy- to me you are better off at a chain and do some cool excursions

    I see what you mean...
I'm going to continue my research, I'm torn because I want to see the country but I'd rather be relaxed while doing so and not afraid a howling monkey or robber is going to break into my villa and eat or kill me lol

    Thank you!!!

great resource btw but not sure how practical....

    sounds great lol

In a country famous for strikingly beautiful beaches, Jaco is rather lackluster. To make matters worse, Jaco’s waters are generally unsafe for swimmers—the waves are large, and dangerous riptides are frequent.

CR is great ... stayed in playa hermosa on the west coast ... makes sure you visit arenal while there check out the volcano and can go zip lining and shit there .... CR thrives off of tourism so you can pretty much find anything just but talking to a local ... everyone knows someone that does something .... thats how i managed most of my excursions and shit down there ... can be risky too though
Some people listen to music .... others just hear it

I stayed in Jaco it was nice. I actually stayed in a Condo at Los Suenos. We also took a trip to Manuel Antonio the National Park - that was really nice. Jaco is known for its surfing, hookers, and cocaine so prob not what you are looking for lol.
