    Hawaii

I'm starting to plan a trip and I have NO idea where to start...

What island is best? Should we just do one or hop around? Any advice on where to stay? I really know nothing about it and have no idea what to expect cost-wise...

    Looking at March.

I have been to Maui and Kona on the Big Island...both were awesome. Stayed at Four Seasons both times as well which was incredible. I can't wait to go back, thinking about planning a trip this year. Here are some pics from Kona...

I went a few years ago and did a Norwegian Cruise for 5 days around all the islands then stayed at Four Seasons Maui for 4 nights after that. The cruise let me see all the islands then Maui was just amazing to relax.

I went to the Big Island and Kauai last year.
Kauai is less developed than the other islands. More nature to see.

Stayed at the Trump Palace in Honolulu, and at this boutique hotel in Kauai (highly recommended): www.koakea.com

I did Kauia, Maui and Oahu. I was NOT impressed with Waikiki, it was dirty and tons of homeless. IT was like Miami with waves. Kauia is just GORGEOUS and if you want NOTHING to do that is the best place. Maui has a little more life to it and absolutely STUNNING.

Good chance i'm going in the beginning of May. My parents have some sort of connections so I can get really hooked up at the Ritz- Carlton there (i think it's this one).

I really want to stay at The Turtle Bay Resort bc it was in the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Also looking to spend a few days on other islands. Luckily, Mav is a Hawaii expert.

*Also, my flight is pretty much free bc Continental hooked it up with a ton of miles for signing up for their One Pass credit card.
    * I really am as awesome as I appear.

I may put this off until later in the year or next, its a little much to arrange right now I think, but i'm going to research now so i'm ready when we do book...

Maui is sounding like our best bet but i'm still pretty clueless so any other tips are appreciated! =)

went to oahu and the big island. Preferred the big island. More laid back, but Oahu, besides Waikiki beach was also gorgeous. Loved Hilo, too. Lodginf mayb be cheaper on the big island, but not sure. Have fun.

You should try to see more than one island while you're out there. I went to Maui and Kauai in May and had the most incredible experience. It truly is heavenly. Maui was a bit more fast paced that Kauai so we went there first and relaxed for a second week in Kauai.
The activitied to do are endless. I highly recommend both islands. If you need more details on hotels, things to do, see etc, Im happy to help.

    Hai bros,
Could use a little guidance. Looks like you guys aren't the biggest fans of Waikiki but I've heard some good things plus Mav gave it the seal of approval (which you all know is a gold seal encrusted in platinum). So here's my situation, I'm not up for jumping around to different islands as my trip is pretty much set. Free flight, free condo (friend of my parents) right on the beach next to the Hilton lagoon for 4 nights then I have 3 nights to do basically what i want after that. But here's my real conundrum, since i was a pre teen i've always wanted to go to the North Shore/Pipeline/Waimea Bay. I was looking at hotels and the only one seems to be the EPIC Turtle Bay...I use EPIC bc it was the location for my favorite movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall but i'm not feeling the $350 a night as I am going to Europe the month before so trying to keep this trip as cheap as possible. Seems there are no other hotels on that stretch of the North Shore. Does anyone know anything about Haleiwa? I found some really nice condos for rent there but have heard zero about it. Any help would be appreciated. And am I going to get my ass beach by locals on the north shore bc i'm a howley?

Waikiki to me is Miami with waves. TONS of homeless and sort of gross. Go to Maui and enjoy.

Wikiki beach is simply gorgeous, but the area is too tourista for me. I also don't need high end shopping everywhere I look, lol. I preferred the north shore of Oahu. Kona and Hilo were much more laid back. I preferred the big island because of that. Hoping to hit the other islands some time soon.

bro based on what you posted above I say
Hilton Hawaiian Village -it is not pricey-you can do the inclusive too-it is BIG and be prepared for tons of people and lots of kids but they have some killer pools nice easy surf and plenty do to there -not sure about Haleiwa so cant help you there-the locals def do not like outsiders-I encountered a point break movie type scene minus getting beat up etc... but it was made clear to me to stay out of "local" waters -it is funny cause most would not expect any poor or tough people to be there but there are some once you head out of the resort areas

Ok cool, I was waiting to hear what you had to say. That's great you mentioned the Hilton Hawaiian Village as the place I'm staying at is directly next door and basically in the Hilton Lagoon (i think there are 3 high rise towers and it's in one of those). There are 2 places I'm looking at and booking this week after Waikiki, that are literally on the beach in Sunset Beach (In doing some research and talking to friends it seems like Sunset Beach over Haleiwa is the spot to be). In reading all the reviews on the places (vrbo.com) they all said that both places are within walking distance on the beach to Waimea Bay/Pipe. I was debating on bringing my boards but the spot in Sunset provides stand up paddle boards (can't wait to try that), surfboards, snorkel gear (I heard snorkeling in Shark Cove is insane...and it's the next beach down), and beach cruisers. But I think i might rent one from this service where you can rent really nice boards for a week where they pick up and deliver (only in Hawaii haha). Is there any places on the North Shore to go at night where i won't get beat up for being a howlie? haha

you can rent boards for sure I like to use the same board each day so if I was u I would rent it for the week-as sometimes it takes some time to get used to the boards-If you fee like living large u can buy one from a shop and after the week is over have them ship it back for you-not cheap but kinda cool lol

as far as snorkels go-I suggest at the very least bringing your own snorkel-it wont take up much room-the idea of a rental snorkel skeeves me out big time-I dont care how they "sterilize" them- person using it before you may have some nasty/catchy thing going in their mouths and you dont want to catch it-example local whore just blew 200 guys then says hmm think I will do some snorkeling then after she is done in comes kyle for a nice relaxing day at on the water-worker said ahh fuck it I dont want to clean the snorkels this guy wont know any better-and you come home with something you didnt bargain for lol

I am not sure about sunset beach as far as places to stay so sorry I am not much help there

I tried a paddle board last summer-was not feeling it too much but I am going to try again this summer- a friend ordered one of these stand up paddles that are self propelled-kinda gay and kinda lazy mans way but not going to lie I am def going to try it out lol I had a chance to try the short board-pretty cool if you dont want to paddle out - http://wavejet.com/our-story/wavejet-in-action.html

When in Waikiki at night I think for the most part you will enjoy just hitting the places at the hotels-plenty of drinking to be done and usually lots of ladies about too

on a side note some of the strip clubs are pretty ghetto so if you decide to check out some local vag be careful where you go
