He's some hick from Utah and too stupid to pull off a complex insurance scam. I just think he was unable to drive a high-performance vehicle because he's so used to driving delivery trucks.

Oh well sucks to be him.

    pics of the damage.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...wrecks-it.html

doesnt seem like fraud but this guy is probably fucked as it is....first, im not sure the laws of his state but i wonder if he even had insurance on it to begin with...second, the taxes on this thing alone could screw this guy, he probably has no clue that he has to pay around 20,000 in taxes and im taking a lucky guess that he cant afford that

I don't get how this would be an insurance scam? They don't give you money for the car, they will just repair the vehicle.
    * I really am as awesome as I appear.

Wouldn't it be easier and safer just to sell the thing if you wanted cash? It's not like the insurance company's giving you msrp.

well no one pays msrp on anything so thats a given but since its brand new they would get pretty much retail value if totaled but i really dont think this dude handled insurance or taxes yet

best bet would be to sell it without repair...prob still get around 150gs out of it after taxes

For this car people probably pay well over sticker. Anyway point being he would get the car's determined value which can't be that far off from what he could pull in on the used (like new) market. You know how much the value drops as soon as you roll it off the lot so you're not gonna get anywhere near the retail showroom value from the claim. You can't haggle with the adjustors, but you can offer up a good deal on the market and probably end up with just as much money if not more.

    no scam, just stupid.
there is snow on the ground there, ground was cold, probably on summer tires- most of us if handed the keys and not practiced some self control would probably get in trouble given the same situation

If I was handed the keys to drive in snow/rain/ice to any car that has a roofline lower than my waist, I would refuse to do it.
