ok before u go u should know.

    a) if u plan on doing this on a fri, sat, sunday, expect to wait. last time i was there we were standing in the rain for like an hour. thers no bar to sit at.
    b) speaking of bar, theres no hard liquor, just wine. last time i was busting teh owners balls to get some bvca for my esspresso, but he was head strong that he had none, not even a private stash for himself.
    c) no menus. first course apps, second course pasta, third is meat and then if u want a forth i beleieve its fish, i never got that far. pricing is per head per course. the wine the leave on teh table and kind pick it up and look at it and guess how much u drank LOL
    d) dont expect the ritz carlton, basically it 3 or 4 store front (they run the food down the sidewalk to the different stores) stuffed with table with cheap tablecloths and barely room to move ur chair.

dont let this discourage you, its still fuckin great and its fun, but i think its more of liek a 3-4th date place than a first date if ya know what i mean. but def check it out

we had christmas eve dinner there for years, but now we goto il tuscano in douglaston, cuz we been reduced to a smaller group, so we can do the more intimate thing instead of the monsterous loud family style, we used to pile like 20 of us in there and eat like it was our last meal.

Well, I asked for Manhattan places because I live there. I hardly ever venture out of the city for food besides the occasional trip to Jersey. All suggestions are appreciated though. The places I've tried around the Upper West Side aren't the greatest and been feening for a good Italian meal. There are a couple of places that I like around the Carmine area but I was looking for some place new.

JoeyDollaz, thanks for the info. I will definitely give it a shot the next time I'm out eating.

I'll check out Carmines and Angelos. I know I've been to a couple down in that area but its been years since I've been so I don't remember too well.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys!
