    .com vs .org vs .net

A company started building a website for my business, and the only thing available for web address is .net

Just trying to get feed back from peeps if this would deter them from shopping a website with .net

I don't think it should deter shoppers. Personally I wouldn't stay away from a site that had a .net suffix.

your main issue isnt whether it would deter people.. the main issue is when someone finds the dot com you would be losing traffic to another site... your best bet is to find another domain that you can purchase alll of them so you can direct them all to the same page so if someone finds or searches any of them you get all of the traffic..

I am marketing 62-75 years of age

Oscar- I think you get kicked off google seo for doing different pages and have one landing page. I may be wrong though

i dont think oscar means to have a page under each, just to register the name so no one else can

Get the .com if you can (offer to buy it if possible) or change your business name, I'm serious. For brandability, always the .com. The other extensions are just icing on the cake, especially when you are trying to control the serps (search engine results).

Also secure your name on every possible social media site, future proof your brand. Do a check on knowem.com

I am a loan officer that deals with seniors for reverse mortgages so its tough to find strong keywords in your web address that isnt already taken. I inquired about some pages for sale but they are out of their minds with price.

Oh, very true, the mortgage keyword niche was picked apart years ago. I used to own some great mortgage KW domains when I was doing lead gen, this was like 2002. Kick myself now that I didn't renew a bunch of them, just to sell them off.

Do you have a company name or brand or something? That's probably your best bet. Even if you had a good mortgage KW domain, it would be next to impossible to rank. Google recognizes and rewards brands in the search results, especially after their recent algorithm updated, nicknamed "Panda". My advice would be to just register your brand, get your site going along with profiles on the larger social media sites, and post relevant content on the keywords you are looking to rank on, such as reverse mortgages for seniors.

It's even easier if you are looking to rank for local search with variations of that keyword. Like NY or NJ or wherever you are targeting. Just work it all into the content.

Even look into PPC (Paid Search) - say you want to get leads if someone searched reverse mortgages for seniors. On a national level that would cost a decent amount per click, but you can target searchers on a local level, such as neighborhoods where people are searching based on IP. Costs go way down.

Let me know what else you need help with, this is all I do haha.

The reverse mortgage side is not as bad as forward side. Not many seniors go onto the internet. I am only licensed in ny so I was thinking about having ny in it. I do not want to use my banks info because of the way we are paid. If I can set up a marketing company and have another company do seo it is easier for me to get 1099 money instead of being w-2. i plan on doing ppc as well as getting some nice organic value so I come up on a search. The platform that my company has is unbeatable on certain products as far as cost. So I am trying to market any which way I can. I have been stealing business left and right because I can give huge discounts on closing costs on certain reverse mtg products
