    Rome and paris

Heading to Rome and Paris for about 8 days sometime in July...

Has anyone been to either one?

Looking for good restaurants, nightlife, places to check out things like that...

    Thanks in advance

This is my Paris review from anther thread, so if things sound out of context you'll understand.

I cant reccommend a hotel because I stayed with family that live there BUT!

3 Days is deff short. Deff check out versailles (Louis the 14ths castle, its free on Sundays and truly breathtaking. BY FAR my favorite part of my trip to France)

I went to pay tribute to Jim Morrison's grave at a famous cemetery I don't remember the name of it but many famous people are buried there. Ended up seeing about 15 other people from around the world there to see it.

The Louvre is cool, but, Do some research on pieces that you would really like to see, because it is so big and there is sooo much to see it just becomes overwhelming.

Arc De triumph is very nice and of coarse the Eiffel Tower, It really is amazing and makes the statue of liberty look minuscule. Notre Dame was very nice too!
If you plan on going to the top of the eiffel tower go EARLY! the line builds quick.

The subway system is awesome quick and cheap & CLEAN I was shocked on how nice it is lol, but the only down side is all service stops at 1am. but busses still run all night.

Nightlife; I used ResidentAdvisor every night I went out to a club, caught some nice talent while I was there too, Francois K was at Rex club and Dennis Ferrer was at Djoon much fun fun.

    Awards Showcase

I can't remember specific names but the Latin Quarter area (across the river from Notre Dame) is really cool. A ton of restaurants, bars, and smaller lounge types.

This. The Louvre is cool but i did it in about 2 hours as it's not worth wasting a whole day imo (I was about 3 feet away from Lady Gaga at the Virgin record store near the inverted pyramid). Versailles is a must see as well as the Montmartre area (where the Morrison grave is).
    * I really am as awesome as I appear.

I have been there both places before one year. I loved the both places, as I visited many places in Rome and Paris like Tivoli ,Orvieto Hil town in Umbria , Florence, Paris museum etc. I really enjoyed all these places especially Paris museum. Its really amazing and attractive.

I never understood why hotels around Spanish steps in rome were so expensive

I remember we were walking around rome middle of the night, just me and my friend thats also a girl, and it felt really safe everywhere, kind of amazing and little eery like there is history in the air, makes you think about the Dan Brown books since every corner is something historic, anywayyyy, BUT once we got around the area with spanish steps, that was the 1st place that we didnt feel safe

we stayed in that area around hotel Zara, its great location, our little b & b was on that main street Via Nazionali, you can walk everywhere from here, the main rail road station, colocium, the Vatican.. just everywhere, rome is like an outdoor museum lol

for Paris you can look online and look at condos, it gets you the best deal, you have no idea how tiny Paris hotel rooms could be at a prices thats not even that cheap lol
if you're into art you'll be in heaven there, so much to see! Roden's home, Picasso.. the Louvre... no limits. The metro is like nyc, very convenient, BUT lol there were times that we were on the platform waiting for the train with other people, and there would be an announcement in french (which we dont speak) would announce that, oops, no more trains for the night... so after 11pm, might need to cab it..

Make sure you make it out to Versailles though... just amazing... plan to spend entire day there walking around
