If you're going to do a QB sneak, you have to at least have Turner on the field as an option for the D to worry about. Spreading it 5 wide meant an obvious QB sneak because they weren't going to throw it.

Turner must have done something to have been ignored on both 4th down plays. Just did not make sense to me, even though the Giants were stopping him for the most part. Ryan is just not a very athletic or strong player and that showed on the sneaks.

from the other thread, I called it. I somewhat understand the sentiment, Ryan seems to be Chad Pennington 2.0, good regular season QB, but plays worse in the playoffs and physically limited. This was not a good game for the guy, he looked jittery on his early throws and then looked like he forgot how to run a 2 min drill before half. The Falcons amazingly took 2 timeouts into halftime and ended up with nothing better than a Hail Mary attempt on a 1st down play. That was brutal to watch, to see the guy meltdown and not call his timeouts. I guess you could blame Smith too, but the QB has to know how to run the 2 min drill. And we've seen Ryan run a 2 min drill well before, so the only explanation is he choked under the pressure of the moment

For somebody is so good at evaluating players and breaking down everything....u sure have been off with a lot of picks of late

I did say towards the end of the week it was a toss-up game. You know I dislike the Giants and would have a hard time picking them in a playoff game no matter who the opponent

I think Pennington won 2 playoff games at least (Indy and @SD) so he's ahead of Matty as of now.

ATL couldnt run the ball and that's what killed them........they wanted to run to set themselves up the whole game, but it wasn't happening, and their whole gameplan was altered from there on out.

so does smith get a pass? i mean, your offense lays an egg during the biggest game of the year for them. and let's be honest, that safety was more a giants miscue than some amazing play by the falcons defense, but i digress. not that injuries are ever an excuse but falcons had no major injuries at the skill positions, and the 4th down play-calling was nothing but ego calls. smith seemed determined to erase that OT blunder at new orleans. anyhow, all it did was make already amped giants defense MORE amped and naturally, that momentum fueled the offense coming out the gate in the 2nd half.

he will probably get a pass but man, smith made it really, really hard on himself.
