Question Thinking of throwing a party...

I've never hosted a house party before and I was hoping for some feedback.

I'm thinking of throwing a party, about 40 people.

Anyone have any idea what the catering would run for something like this? Evan a ballpark figure would help.

Would probably just do bloody marys and mimosas as far as alcohol.

Depends on many factors - if you're just doing finger food, and you have your own venue, you can probably get away with a $20 / person budget. If you want more than just finger food, then obviously the event will cost much more.

I've done something like this before - PM me if you'd like more details.

I want to throw my S-I-L a baby sprinkler (mini baby shower).

I was thinking of a brunch. A few breakfast choices and a few lunch choices. No finger food other than maybe a vegetable crudite, a cheese spread and a fruit/nut platter for when the guests arrive.

Sorry - I *completely* misunderstood the event. Forget what I wrote up there.

This should cost you about $400-500 max.

A baby sprinkler is a mini baby shower thrown for a second child (opposite sex of first child).

dbol is making me cut the guestlist. LOL

I don't want a house warming cause I don't want people to think I'm throwing a party to get gifts.

Ok, so, how much would the catering cost for around 20 people? LOL

And how much would it cost to get a waitress for 4 hours?

That's actually a good estimate. She's having some breakfast/lunch food and platters plus some booze. This isn't a sit down event. You gotta figure cereal, maybe wraps, two or three salads, the platters, disposable cutlery, the booze, a balloon or two.

waitress anywhere from $20-$25 a hour, catering will depend on your food, but I think you can get away with the whole deal in the $600-$800 range

Cereal? LOL! I was thinking more like french toast/pancakes/waffles, eggs with sausage/bacon, maybe a quiche for breakfast items. And chicken franchise or marsala, baked ziti, eggplant rollatini, maybe some tilapia for lunch items. Oh, and a salad. God forbid the Italians don't get their salad.

Idk. We had my bridal shower and the wedding. Everyone has already given us so much. I feel like a house warming would be too much.
