    Brazilian Martial Arts- Capoeira

Some guys came to my gym tonight and were doing it to some music---its off the hook..its a type of dance/fighting ...

Anyone ever do this?? Or know where i can take a class in it? preferrably in jersey

i did a few classes, too much on my left shoulder thats been dislocated three times, first class you're already walking on your hands, but.....i have so much respect for this style, its just nutty as all hell, and the music behind it is just insane, def gonna throw some of these dudes into the circle at my first party

the music is what made me stop to watch them..i should have asked them what cd it was!! these awesome chants and drums...

but yeah one guy was off the hook...he would get on his hands with bent elbows, almost like a breakdance move, and do some crazy side kick ...

my friends sister was taking capoeira lessons down in miami and loved them...this is definitely something i want to look into doing

i gave her the low down
in my opinion like i told her:
    its hard very acrobatic
completely useless as a form of self defense
    but its different and intriguing,
id like to take a trip to brazil for about 10 days and go to gracies camp to grapple 5 days and try capoiera for a few days

Ironically, the movie "Only the Strong" actually sparked me and two of my friends' interest in it. We started taking clases on thursdays in SoHo, right off of Houston. They held classes there @ a dojo.. It was cool, a little hard for me to keep up being I was still in highschool but definitely a GREAT form of cardio and a great way to learn balance... I don't remember the exact address but I can see if I can find out...

At the time I was also into break dancing.... after 4 years, i've given both up though..... between both, I messed up my back and neck pretty good....

A really ineffective form of defense - I agree.... Alot of fun though..
